Job description

Position Description:

Material handlers work with various components depending on the location. Responsibilities include operating heavy machinery such as forklifts, tuggers, tractors, hoists, and cranes. Training is provided for operating these vehicles, but employees are not exclusively operating vehicles. Material handlers also check, store, disburse, or fill orders for parts, materials, tools, equipment, and supplies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Owning and helping improve performance in Safety, Quality, and Delivery
  • Maintaining and reporting daily receiving and shipping activities
  • Reporting defects and needs for repairs
  • Keeping lines stocked with the proper materials
  • Performing additional work as assigned, possibly assisting in different departments
  • Wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety shoes, gloves, glasses, respirators, and hearing protection
  • Completing duties in accordance with safety policies, ensuring personal and co-worker safety, and the safe use of equipment

Tools & Equipment:

Depending on the department and location, you may work with tools and equipment such as PPE, forklifts, tuggers, tractors, hoists, load securement devices, SAP program, and cranes. Training is provided to ensure confidence and competence.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening
  • Ability to pass PIV (power industrial vehicle) training
  • Basic reading, writing, math, and verbal skills
  • Basic computer skills

Knowledge, Training, Skills, and Experience:

Experience and education are advantageous but not required, as training is provided. The role involves working in environments with loud noise, welding, paint fumes, and grinding dust.

Working Conditions/Environment:

The environment may include exposure to fumes, airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, vibrations, extreme conditions, high noise levels, high temperatures, and outside elements. Physical Demands:
