Position Summary
The Material Handler III is responsible for loading and/or unloading trucks, receiving, checking, storing, counting, and distributing inventory of all types in accordance with established systems, procedures, and methods.
Position Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain a safe and positive work environment in compliance with OSHA, company standards, and local, state, and federal requirements.
- Perform tasks necessary to meet warehouse goals.
- Accurately complete all necessary paperwork.
- Manage day-to-day inventory levels.
- Maintain forklift certification.
- Conduct periodic inventories.
- Trace the history of items to determine reasons for discrepancies between inventory and stock control records and recommend remedial actions to management.
- Oversee the receipt of purchased goods, verify counts and quality, and complete all required paperwork and transactions associated with this process.
- Stack and arrange products on pallets.
- Complete forklift and pallet jack inspections before each shift.
- Replenish stock while maintaining a clean and organized warehouse.
- Move products within the warehouse during reallocations of space or inventory taking.
- Rotate products according to Julian dates or FIFO (first in, first out).
- Receive and check incoming products against receiving documents, ensuring proper product code, quantity, and condition; report discrepancies to the lead.
- Operate electric forklifts and pallet jacks.
- Work in and out of freezers with temperatures averaging 32 to -25 degrees.
- Provide general support to production.
Employee Safety Responsibilities
- Report all injuries, unsafe conditions, acts, and horseplay.
- Use proper lifting techniques.
- Utilize mechanical assistance such as hand jacks, forklifts, and manlifts.
- Use personal assistance (buddy system).
- Use handrails.
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
Temperatures throughout the plant average 50 degrees. PPE such as hairnets, smocks, boots, earplugs, gloves, plastic sleeves, and aprons are provided and must be worn. Compliance with Food Safety standards (GMPs, SSOP, SOP, HACCP, SQF, and other quality requirements) is required.
Position Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- 3-4 years of warehouse, manufacturing, or production experience.
- One year of shift lead experience with effective communication skills.
- Maintain forklift certification.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
- Ability to work in environments with loud machinery and in extreme temperatures, both indoors and outdoors.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
