Job summary

Oshkosh Corporation in Milwaukee is seeking a Material Handler III to maintain inventory levels and ensure materials move and ship according to schedule. You will identify incoming and outgoing materials, document stock, and assist in training new employees within a high-volume distribution center.

A strong attention to detail and safety are essential. Five years plus experience in shipping/receiving and forklift certification are required.

Job Summary

The Material Handler III will be responsible for maintaining inventory levels through the movement of materials. This role will identify and document incoming and outgoing materials. The objective of this role is to ensure customers having their materials processed and shipped according to schedule.

Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot and resolve stock‑out issues in the distribution center.
  • Communicate with customers on requirements and provide accurate feedback.
  • Assist in coordinating the direction and training of new employees.
  • Assist in the coordination of material flow through the facility.
  • Receive and enter purchase orders containing inventory into system accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Pick, package and ship items in a manner to prevent damage in transit.
  • Manage receiving discrepancies both within the company and with external supplier.
  • Report and communicate with several levels of management.
  • General knowledge and ability to use Material Requirement Planning (MRP).
  • Perform safety, parts, systems, and process audits and inspections.
  • Accurately identify and locate parts within the warehouse and branch facility.
  • Cycle count inventory to compile with company standards.
  • Develop bills of lading and delivery forms when required.
  • Lead special project activity as delegated.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Five (5) or more years of experience in shipping, receiving, or a related area.
  • Forklift Certification.
Preferred Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or its equivalent.
  • Proficiency with various web-based software applications including Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, etc.
  • Experience with Order Picking and Swing Reaching.
  • Experience working in a high-volume warehouse with automated systems.
Working Conditions
  • Physical Demands: Frequent Standing, Reaching, Driving, Hearing, Talking, Visual, Fine Dexterity, Manual Dexterity, Lifting/Carrying up to 35lbs.; Occasional Walking/Running, Climbing, Bending/Kneeling, Typing, Upper Extremity Repetitive Motion, Pushing/Pulling up to 50lbs.; Seldom Sitting.
  • Non-Physical Demands: Occasional Communication/Interpretation, Math/Mental Computation; Seldom Analysis/Reasoning, Reading, Sustained Mental Activity (i.e., auditing, problem solving, grant writing, composing reports, etc.), and Writing.
  • Environmental Demands: Frequent Work Alone, Tedious/Exacting Work; Occasional Loud Noises; Seldom Task Changes.
  • Work Schedule: Routine shift hours. Infrequent overtime, weekend, or shift rotation.
  • Demands/Deadlines: Little or no stress created by work, employees, or public.
