Job summary

Carestream Health Inc. in Rochester, NY, is seeking a Material Handler to ensure accurate and efficient flow of materials, packaging, and shipment preparation. You will move inventory between the dock, warehouse, and production areas, maintaining appropriate stock levels to minimize downtime.

The role requires forklift capability (or willingness to train), 1+ year in material handling, keen attention to detail, and basic computer skills for SAP data entry. Shift: 6am–2:30pm, Monday–Friday.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1+ years of experience in material handling or warehouse operations.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
• Forklift license or willingness to train; Carestream provides training if needed.
• Basic computer skills for data entry and paperwork.

Responsibilities

• Travel between multiple locations to package items according to paperwork.
• Print and attach shipping labels and barcodes onto packages.
• Safely operate PITs or other equipment to load/unload and transport materials.
• Monitor inventory levels and escalate shortages.
• Enter paperwork into SAP to complete material moves and orders.
• Move finished goods to the shipping doc area daily.
• Maintain clean, organized workspace and follow 5S procedures.
• Ensure documentation is accurate and timely.

Compensation $20.00 to $22.00 per hour depending on experience.

Position Summary

The Material Handler plays a critical role in ensuring the accurate and efficient flow of materials within the facility, including packaging materials and preparing them for shipment. This position is responsible for following shipping paperwork to locate and package components, processing shipping order paperwork, and moving inventory in and out of various locations within the building, including the dock, warehouse, parts market, and manufacturing floor. This position is critical for ensuring the correct parts are packaged for shipment while maintaining adequate levels of inventory on the shop floor to ensure continuous production and minimize production downtime.

Position Responsibilities

• Travel between multiple locations to package items according to existing paperwork and procedures
• Print and attach shipping labels and barcodes onto packages
• Safely use powered industrial trucks (PITs) or other equipment to load, unload, and transport materials
• Monitor inventory levels and elevate parts shortages
• Accurately enter paperwork information into SAP to complete material moves and order processing
• Each day, move finished goods to the shipping doc area (following shipping coordinator paperwork)
• Follow established procedures for material handling, storage, and documentation to support operational efficiency and regulatory compliance
• Ensure a clean and organized workspace by performing 5S activities and filing paperwork in a timely manner

Required Skills & Education

• High School Diploma or GED
• 1+ years of experience in material handling, warehouse operations, or related field
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation
• This position requires forklift license or willingness to train to obtain one (Carestream will provide training if needed)
• Basic computer skills for entering data and paperwork information
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods
• Comfortable working in a warehouse environment with varying temperatures
• Must be able to work the hours of Monday - Friday 6am to 2:30pm (flexible, 7am or 8am start time possible)

Desired Skills

• Prior experience with SAP or similar ERP systems
• Familiarity with OSHA regulations
• Forklift Certification
• Ability to identify and resolve discrepancies in shipments or inventory counts
