Material Handler
Job Overview
The Material Handler Associate is responsible for maintaining stock and overstock of all products within the warehouse in collaboration with Inventory Control. This involves performing tasks that have a direct impact on the availability of products for orders from a physical perspective. This role will work collaboratively with Inventory Control and Warehouse Associates.
Responsibilities and Duties
Warehouse Inventory Control:
- Restock products to proper location from returns and/or location moves to ensure products are stocked to the set standards at all times.
- Ensure all overstock is maintained in the appropriate racks and readily available when needed.
- Ensure workspaces are clean throughout and at the end of each shift to contribute to a productive and safe work environment.
- Assists Warehouse Associates in locating products and missing products.
- Coordinates with Inventory Control on movement of product within the warehouse.
- Operates forklifts and other warehouse machinery when necessary; adheres to all safety protocols and procedures when operating warehouse equipment and handling materials.
Operational Effectiveness:
- Monitor email regularly for incoming inquiries and requests from the company’s ticketing system that are delegated to this role to complete.
- Follow best practices for inventory management and control that ensure the best possible utilization of inventory space and dollars as well as inventory accuracy.
- Consistently follow standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Participate in process improvement initiatives that enhance inventory accuracy and operational efficiency.
- Participate in inventory-related projects to ensure product availability and maintain deadlines.
- Use inventory tracking tools to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
- Use technology solutions to support inventory management initiatives.
Skills and Qualifications
- Minimum of 2-3 years working with inventory in a warehouse setting.
- Previous experience with inventory systems and warehouse technology preferred.
- Capable using Microsoft Office Suite products such as Outlook, Word and Excel.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, multi-tasking and organizational skills.
- Proficient communication (written and verbal) and collaboration skills.
- Eye for accuracy and detail oriented.
- Experience following policies and processes that align with organizational goals.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to lift/carry 50 lbs. frequently.
- Prolonged periods of working on feet/moving in a warehouse
