The Material Handler I is responsible for the moving and storage of raw materials and finished goods, including the fabrication of products on pallets, scanning finished goods, issuing materials to batches, handling floor jacks, and operating automated equipment and stretch wrappers.
Responsibilities include:
- Performing Packer I duties.
- Complying with all quality, safety, and work rules and regulations.
- Moving raw materials from staging areas to required locations.
- Completing paperwork related to Safety, Quality, or Production processes.
- Monitoring production lines to ensure availability of necessary raw materials.
- Stacking finished products to create pallets.
- Securing finished goods on pallets according to customer specifications.
- Documenting information such as pack IDs on reports.
- Verifying pallet completeness before moving from the production line.
- Moving finished products to wrapping staging areas and wrapping pallets.
- Assisting with de-palletizing, restacking, and reworking products.
- Adhering to Good Manufacturing Practices and housekeeping procedures.
- Maintaining a clean work area.
- Transporting trash, recyclables, and pallets to designated areas.
- Taking breaks as directed by the lead.
- Taking inventory of raw materials and finished goods, and scanning or deleting Pack IDs into the MRP system.
- Communicating issues or quality concerns to co-workers or supervisors.
- Properly utilizing grinders.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Experience operating a pallet jack is preferred.
Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Basic math skills.
- Proficiency in English reading, writing, and communication.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work effectively independently and in a team.
- Willingness to work overtime and weekends.
- Ability to operate a pallet jack.
- Commitment to organizational success.
- Ability to multi-task.
- Other tasks as assigned.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 60 lbs.
- Ability to push, pull, twist, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, and crawl.
- Repetitive motions such as reaching and grasping.
- Reach up to 7 feet using steps or other means.
- Work environment includes warehouse conditions with temperature variations.
- Fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
