Job summary

Crane Aerospace & Electronics in Burbank, CA, is seeking a Material Handler I/II to support production by receiving, moving, counting, storing and shipping parts and materials to meet on-time delivery goals.

The role requires 3–6 years of manufacturing experience, knowledge of lean principles, and proficiency with MS Office. You will perform cycle counts, stock materials, and issue to production cells while collaborating with supervisors and buyers to resolve issues.

Job Summary

The Material Handler I/II is responsible for receiving, moving, storing, counting, tracking, issuing, and shipping a variety of production parts, materials, and supplies. The production floor relies on this position to provide the right parts and materials at the right time to meet on-time-delivery goals.

Essential Functions
  • Maintain accurate inventory control by following established work instructions and processes.
  • Complete the cycle count process for Value Stream; Escalate variances in counts as needed Perform root cause investigation on variances in cycle counts Move materials to and from receiving, production areas and shipping by hand, using sorting bins and carts, or other equipment Consult with others (i.e., supervisors, buyer planners, etc.) to rectify problems, such as damages, shortages, and nonconformance to specifications Unpack, receive, and stock materials into storeroom location(s); Pack and ship materials in accordance with contract requirements Read work orders to determine material and equipment needs for production cell work Issue critical materials to production cells Respond to unplanned issues with internal customers in a timely manner Aid and/or Backfill coworkers, as needed to complete daily tasks Change part stocking methods to better facilitate production needs Ensure compliance with export compliance rules Assist with training new employees and cross training other materials associates Capable of supporting more than one value stream Any other task assigned by supervisor or management
Minimum Qualifications
  • Experience: 3-6 years of relevant manufacturing experience; Previous experience working with manufacturing software tools
  • Knowledge: Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods; Familiar with lean principles; Understanding of continuous improvement tools
  • Skills/Abilities: Demonstrated outstanding manual dexterity; Demonstrated ability to concentrate on repetitive tasks; Demonstrated ability to accurately follow detailed work instructions; Demonstrated ability to understand standard work instructions; Demonstrated ability to solve routine problems; Math skills to perform basic calculations; Outstanding verbal communication skills; Proficient with MS Office
  • Education/Certification: High School diploma or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledgeable in the use of Microscopes
Eligibility Requirement

This position requires access to controlled data or information and therefore only US persons will be considered. As a US Department of Defense contractor we are bound by the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

  • Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment
  • Manufacturing operations may require the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to: eye safety glasses, gowning, masks, hearing protectors, heel/wrist straps and any other required PPE
  • May be exposed to unusual environmental conditions such as loud noises, cold temperatures, confined spaces, dust or fumes
  • Standing: 50-75% *percentage is approximate and may vary depending on work task

Salary Range

Material Handler I - $22.90/hr. - $28.22/hr. Material Handler II - $25.18/hr. - $31.59/hr. Several factors contribute to actual salary, including experience in a similar role or performing comparable job responsibilities, skills, training, and other qualifications. Some roles may be eligible for participation in performance-based bonus programs.
