Job summary

Goodwill Southwest Florida is seeking a dependable Material Handler I to support the movement, sorting, and handling of donated materials at our Fort Myers plant. This part-time, hourly role involves loading, unloading, and organizing items safely in a fast-paced warehouse environment.

Responsibilities include following Kaizen guidelines, aiding salvage sorting, and providing courteous service to stores, vendors, and donors while maintaining a clean, safe workspace.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum of one to two years of experience in warehouse operations.
• One to two years of experience loading 53', 48' containers and box trucks.
• One year supervisory experience.
• Previous forklift experience preferred.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Excel and Word).
• Capable of seeing and recognizing colors.
• Ability to stoop, reach, twist, lift, push, pull and move items; lift and carry a minimum of 40 pounds.
• Comfortable with standing for long periods of time and the possibility of occasionally working where temperatures and climate can fluctuate.

Responsibilities

• Move, load, and unload raw donated materials, salvage commodities, trash, equipment, and fixtures, ensuring all items are placed in their designated locations within the plant.
• Follow Kaizen guidelines and 5-minute drills to maintain accuracy, efficiency, and compliance throughout all material-handling processes.
• Assist in salvage sorting operations and cross-train to support additional plant roles as needed.
• Provide professional and courteous service to stores, administrative teams, vendors, and donors while maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
