Job summary

Neogen in Lansing, Michigan, is seeking a Material Handler I to support a safe, efficient warehouse and production flow. You will use RF scanners to move materials, adhere to FIFO/FEFO principles, and maintain inventory accuracy in Q-bin locations.

Responsibilities include receiving, picking for production, and identifying damaged or non-conforming materials while ensuring compliance with safety standards and PPE requirements.

Qualifications

  • 0–2 years of warehouse, manufacturing, or logistics experience
  • Ability to learn SAP S/4HANA EWM and RF scanner transactions
  • Basic understanding of FIFO/FEFO inventory practices
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to inventory accuracy
  • Ability to safely operate powered industrial trucks

Responsibilities

  • Execute daily warehouse operations safely, accurately, and efficiently

  • Pick materials for production using FIFO/FEFO principles
  • Identify, segregate, and document damaged, expired, scrap, or non-conforming materials
  • Report inventory discrepancies to leadership promptly
  • Complete PIT equipment inspection checklists and maintain organized storage locations

Come Be Part of a Mission that Matters!The Material Handler I is responsible for executing daily warehouse operations safely, accurately, and efficiently while supporting production, inventory accuracy, and material flow within SAP S/4HANA EWM. This position performs material movements using RF devices, follows FIFO/FEFO inventory practices, and maintains compliance with Neogen quality and safety standards.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesDepartmental Process Execution: Fully understand and execute all departmental processes and standard operating procedures.Material Movement: Receive product into Q-bin locations; remove stock from Q bins while verifying the 5Vs; move material physically and systematically using RF scanners; maintain focus on inventory accuracy, consolidation, space management, production support, and replenishment; ensure every movement is recorded to prevent inventory discrepancies.Picking & Supply Fulfillment: Pick materials for production using FIFO/FEFO principles; verify the correct Item Number, Batch Number, and Quantity before every pick; maintain focus on delivering the correct item and quantity.Special Handling: Identify, segregate, and document damaged, expired, scrap, or non-conforming materials; verify Scrap/NCC documentation while maintaining compliance and traceability.Daily Warehouse Expectations: Use RF scanners for all inventory movements; complete PIT equipment inspection checklists; maintain clean, organized, and safe storage locations; follow all PPE requirements; communicate inventory discrepancies to leadership promptly.Safety Fundamentals: Operate powered industrial trucks safely while maintaining a minimum 10-foot distance from pedestrians; keep travel paths clear; remain vigilant of surroundings; use required PPE at all times; report hazards and near misses immediately through leadership and Velocity.Skills and Competencies - Required0–2 years of warehouse, manufacturing, or logistics experience preferred.Ability to learn SAP S/4HANA EWM and RF scanner transactions.Basic understanding of FIFO/FEFO inventory practices.Strong attention to detail and commitment to inventory accuracy.Ability to safely operate or become certified on powered industrial trucks.Strong communication and teamwork skills.Key CompetenciesSafety FirstAttention to DetailAccountabilityTeamworkQuality FocusProcess ComplianceContinuous LearningKPIs & Success MetricsInventory AccuracyPicking AccuracySAP/RF Transaction ComplianceSafety ComplianceFIFO/FEFO ComplianceProductivityAttendance and ReliabilityWhy NeogenAt Neogen we believe that taking care of our employees allows them to do their best work.
