Position Summary

Receives, stores, and distributes products, materials, and equipment within establishments by performing the following duties:

  1. Prepares orders according to established procedures: reviews bills of lading and shipping schedule to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed; palletizes and shrink wraps order; prepares Loading Manifest; loads carrier in presence of driver; returns completed and signed documentation to Logistics.
  2. Receives incoming materials, equipment, and supplies; checks items received against purchase order for accuracy; inspects merchandise for damage; assists in unloading delivery trucks as necessary.
  3. Sorts and places materials or items on racks, shelves, or in storage areas according to predetermined sequence.
  4. Stores, stocks, and supplies items; maintains shelves and stock in a clean and orderly condition.
  5. Marks materials with identifying information.
  6. Sorts and stores perishable goods in temperature-controlled rooms.
  7. Picks up materials and/or parts from local vendors.
  8. Assists in taking stock inventory; rotates stock; orders stock according to established guidelines.
  9. Maintains accurate inventory records.
  10. Transports materials and items from receiving or production areas to storage or to other designated areas and/or between facilities.
  11. Weighs or counts items for distribution within the plant to ensure conformance to company standards.
  12. Drives vehicle to transport stored items from warehouse to plant or to pick up items from several locations for shipment.
  13. Safely operates warehouse vehicles and equipment including pallet jacks, forklifts, carts, and trucks; conducts general inspection of equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  14. Performs related duties as assigned.
Position Qualifications

Education / Experience

High school diploma or GED; or 1-3 months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to safely operate motorized standup forklift, electric and manual pallet jacks. Knowledge of basic warehousing systems, safety regulations, proper storing methods, record-keeping techniques.

Language Skills

Ability to read and understand simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Effective in presenting information to individuals and small groups.

Mathematical Skills

Basic arithmetic, rate, ratio, percent calculations, and interpreting bar graphs.

Reasoning Skills

Ability to follow detailed instructions and handle problems involving concrete variables in standardized situations.

Work Environment

Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts, extreme cold, wet conditions, high places, weather, and vibration. Moderate noise level.

Physical Demands

Requires standing, walking, handling, reaching, talking, frequent lifting up to 60 lbs, and occasional lifting over 100 lbs. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Valid California Driver's License, clean record. Fluency in English (verbal and written).
