Job summary

Abbott is seeking a Material Handler I for our Westford, MA site to support Abbott Vascular on site. You will move materials, use a scan device, and perform SAP-based inventory activities to ensure accurate tracking.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or equivalent
• 0–3 years in healthcare/medical device/biotech
• MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Familiarity with GMP/Documentation Practices
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs
• Able to push/pull up to 250 lbs with pallet handling equipment
• Detail-oriented with part/batch numbers and documentation
• Work in a quality system environment

Responsibilities

• Perform manual and clerical duties moving materials
• Pull material from warehouse using a pick list and RF device
• Use a barcode scanner to scan items for airlock picklist
• Transport materials using forklift or pallet jack to designated location
• Maintain and manage materials in assigned roles
• Participate in weekly cycle count activities
• Perform SAP transactions to identify material status
• Inspect packages for damage and verify against packing slips/invoices
• Lift packages up to 50 lbs
• Maintain neat, safe, and compliant work area
• Follow FDA, GMP and other regulatory requirements

The Opportunity

We are seeking a Material Handler I for Abbott Vascular in our Westford, MA site. This is an onsite role.

Abbott Vascular provides innovative, minimally invasive, and cost-effective products for treatment of vascular disease.

What You'll Work On:

• Performs manual and clerical duties, which may utilize computers, in the movement of materials.
• Pulls material from warehouse stock using a pick list and possibly radio-frequency device
• Utilizes a bar code scanner to scan items for material airlock picklist.
• Transports materials using a forklift, pallet jack, or truck to the designated location.
• Responsible for the management/maintenance of materials in assigned roles.
• Participate and complete cycle count activities on a weekly basis.
• Performs SAP transactions to clearly identify the status of the material.
• Examines all packages visually at the time of delivery for any damage, and compares the identity and quantities listed on the packing slips, invoices and freight bills to the packages to ensure the information is accurate.
• Lifts packages up to 50 lbs.
• Prioritize daily tasks to meet material demands, and maintain a neat and orderly workplace.
• Solves problems of limited scope and complexity with direction from lead or co-workers.
• Maintain a neat and safe work environment.
• Some areas will require the handling of chemicals with proper training and PPE.
• Support all initiatives as identified by management and in support of Quality Management Systems (QMS), Environmental Management Systems (EMS), and other regulatory requirements.
• Complies with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, Company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments.

Required Qualifications

• HS Diploma or equivalent combination of education and work experience
• 0-3 years of experience within the healthcare, medical device, or biotechnology industry.
• Working knowledge of MS Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Familiarity with basics of Good Manufacturing/Documentation Practices
• Ability to lift up to 50lbs on a regular basis
• Ability to push/pull up to 250lbs using manual and/or powered pallet handling equipment
• Attention to detail with regard to part/batch numbers, documentation, and timely transactions
• Ability to perform tasks in a quality system environment

Preferred Experience

• 2 year degree or some college credits
• Medical Device experience
• Familiarity with ERP/WMS systems, preferably SAP

The base pay for this position is $16.35 - $32.65/hour In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
