Forklift Operator / Material Handler – 1st Shift - Salina, KS

Great Plains Mfg has an opening for a 1st Shift Forklift Operator / Material Handler in the Material Handling Department at the Salina Facility.

This position works Monday through Thursday, from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with overtime on Fridays as required.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Accurately pick parts and materials from inventory based on work orders, production requirements, or customer requests.
• Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
• Assemble and package kits of parts for specific projects or orders, ensuring all components are present and correct.
• Perform warehousing duties, including receiving, sorting, and storing materials, and maintaining a clean warehouse.
• Conduct inventory cycle counts to ensure stock accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
• Interface with other departments to meet deadlines, working closely with assembly lead and manager.
• Operate industrial trucks or electric hoists for loading or moving materials.
• Lift heavy objects manually or with power hoists, and clean work areas and equipment.
• Attach labels or tags to materials and convey materials to designated areas.
• Read work orders and follow instructions to move or deliver materials.
• Follow all safety policies and OSHA regulations, wearing prescribed safety equipment.
• Other duties as assigned.

Preferred Skills And Qualifications

• Must have forklift license or ability to obtain one.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong team player with understanding of team concepts.
• Ability to use and understand AS400.
• Ability to read prints and use measuring tools like tape measures and calipers.
