Job summary

Karma Automotive, Inc. is seeking a Material Handler to load/unload shipments, move materials, and maintain inventory with a forklift and RF equipment. The role emphasizes safety, accuracy, and efficiency in a manufacturing environment in California.

The position is a temporary assignment through March 2027 with potential conversion to a full-time role based on business needs and performance. Overtime may be required, and a CA forklift certification is mandatory.

Qualifications

  • High school education or GED minimum; some college preferred.
  • 1–3 years of direct experience in a similar material handling role.
  • Must have CA forklift certification (OSHA 3668) and be able to operate safely.
  • English reading/writing, good memory, and reliable attendance.

Responsibilities

  • Unload inbound shipments and move products to storage locations.
  • Operate forklift/clamp truck and RF devices for picking and shipping.
  • Load outbound shipments and create shipping documentation.
  • Maintain inventory control records and assist physical inventories.
  • Ensure safety, housekeeping, and equipment maintenance.
  • Assist in building/grounds and facility upkeep.

Material Handler

The Material Handler - Forklift Operator is responsible for operating a forklift to move, locate, relocate, stack, and count vehicle and tooling components. The Operator is accountable for the safe and efficient operation of the vehicle and may also be required to perform staging and auditing duties.

This is a temporary assignment anticipated to continue through March 2027, with the opportunity to convert to a regular full-time position based on business needs, individual performance, and attendance.

Work Schedule

Monday through Thursday, 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Friday through Saturday, 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., as scheduled. Overtime may be required, with shifts not exceeding 12 hours.

Responsibilities (include, but are not limited to)
  • Receiving: Unload inbound shipments safely and move product to storage locations. Efficiently stack and store the materials in the appropriate areas. Scan or enter data into ERP system and report inventory discrepancy.
  • Quality: Ensure inbound and outbound shipments are accurate and free of damage. Report quality variances.
  • Loading: Efficiently move products from staging and/or storage areas into assembly bays.
  • Equipment: Load, unload, move, stack, and stage products and materials using a forklift, clamp truck, or other power equipment. Use radio frequency equipment for picking, receiving, and load functions, as required.
  • Shipping: Load outbound shipments safely. Scan or enter data into ERP system and report inventory discrepancy. Create shipping documentation.
  • Operate all equipment in a safe and efficient manner following prescribed work methods.
  • Keep appropriate records and reports to guarantee that tight inventory control and security are maintained.
  • Assist in physical inventories.
  • Maintain a clean, neat, and orderly work area. Assist in maintaining the security of the warehouse. Conduct operations in a manner that promotes safety. Comply with OSHA and MSDS standards.
  • Perform or assist in building, grounds, and equipment maintenance as required.
  • Maintain the facility’s equipment and materials in a neat, clean, and orderly fashion. Daily, inspect and perform minor maintenance on the forklift or other equipment.
  • Other duties, as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • High school education or GED minimum/partial college preferred.
  • Experience (the minimum level of direct experience in a similar position): 1–3 years.
  • The forklift operator requires satisfactory completion of a California State Forklift Certification (OSHA 3668).
  • Positive attitude and pleasant personality, effective memory skills, good hand-eye coordination, dependability, ability to follow directions, and a strong willingness to learn.
  • Ability to read, speak, and write in English.
  • Standing while walking is required for most of the shift (not including breaks).
  • Pushing and pulling pallets and lifting products is required approximately 55% of the shift.
  • Bending is required less than or up to 15% of the shift to reach product or debris.
  • Climbing onto the racking may be required.
  • Crouching is required.
  • Kneeling is required occasionally.
  • Physical strength to handle up to 25-pound objects frequently. Some items weighing up to 50lbs need to be handled occasionally.
  • Above average coordination, including hand-eye, hand-foot, and balance.
  • Normal dexterity of hands and fingers with average repetition.
  • Sight with ability to distinguish color and perception of sound are required; ability to communicate issues verbally and in written form.
  • Basic knowledge of Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001:2015) and Environmental Management Systems (ISO 14001:2015), as applicable.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee should have the:

  • Ability to use or operate assembly tools, i.e., electric powered dynamic torque tools.
  • Ability to walk or move –to regularly move about inside the office or onto the facility.
  • Ability to see or detect, identify, recognize, or assess surroundings while in the office or warehouse areas.
  • Ability to bend, turn, and stoop occasionally.
  • Ability to sit or be stationary for brief periods of time.
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time.
  • Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods of time, duration of the shift.
  • Ability to constantly lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. and periodically 50 lbs.

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing their job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will spend approximately 100% (excluding breaks and meal periods) of time in a manufacturing/ warehouse environment. When working in the facility, it requires the use of personal protective equipment, including (but not limited to) steel toe shoes, bump caps, and safety goggles. Reflective colored vest and ear protection is required in certain areas.

Compensation

$20.00/per hour - $24.00/per hour. Compensation will vary DOE. At Karma, our base pay is one part of our total rewards package. Compensation offered may vary on multiple factors, including market location, education, skills and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position being offered.
