MATERIALS HANDLER/FORKLIFT DRIVER – 1st & 2nd SHIFT

VANCE, ALABAMA – TUSCALOOSA PLANT

As a member of the Materials Team, you will be responsible for stocking the various stations on the assembly line with the materials and parts necessary to assemble automobile seats, preparing empty pallets and returnable packaging for shipping, and understanding and meeting production needs through frequent communication and time management under minimal supervision.

The Role:

Your work will include, but not be limited to:

1. Moving materials using an industrial truck (forklift, tugger, pallet jack, etc.).
2. Manually pushing material bins up to production stations.
3. Identifying information by categorizing, estimating, and/or recognizing differences or similarities, and detecting changes in circumstances or events.
4. Inspecting equipment, structures, or materials to identify and meet production needs.
5. Observing, receiving, and otherwise obtaining information from all relevant sources.
6. Performing all other duties as assigned by management.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

1. Ability to arrange things or actions in a certain order or pattern according to a specific rule or set of rules (e.g., patterns of numbers, letters, words, pictures, colors and mathematical operations).
2. Ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong.
3. Ability to adjust the controls of a machine or a vehicle quickly and repeatedly to exact positions.
4. Ability to self-manage time and workplace under minimal supervision while maintaining varying production requirements.

Physical Abilities:

1. Physical Ability to lift, carry, and/or move objects weighing up to 30 pounds.
2. Physical Ability to walk frequently to all plant locations.
3. Physical Ability to read and see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
4. Physical Ability to detect color of material components.
5. Physical Ability to frequently sit, walk, lift, carry, push, pull, twist, reach and grasp.

Your Qualifications:

1. HS Diploma or equivalent.
2. Successfully complete the forklift certification class.

1. Experience in the automotive industry.
