Job summary

American Eagle Outfitters, Inc. is seeking a Material Handler at our Ottawa, KS distribution center to support fast-paced warehousing operations. You will unload, load, warehouse and stage merchandise using manual and/or mechanical equipment in a climate-controlled facility.

The role emphasizes safety, accuracy in handling pallets, and willingness to work across departments in a dynamic environment with incentive pay structure.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED or some high school.
• Able to adapt to change by working within different departments.
• Excellent attendance and work record.
• Must be 18 or older.
• Ability to operate manual and automated pallet jack equipment.

Responsibilities

• Ensure a safe work environment by keeping safety a top priority.
• Sort, warehouse, stage, and load/unload cartons in an accurate, safe, and efficient manner.
• Unload inbound freight / load outbound freight.
• Stage outbound freight in shipping.
• Receive and warehouse incoming merchandise into module racks and floor locations.
• Pull merchandise from racks or move merchandise to open areas for pulling and distribution in replenishment department.
• Replenish and condense merchandise into most effective locations for order pulling in replenishment department.
• Operate manual and/or mechanical equipment in a safe and effective manner and maintain proper certifications.
• Ensure production and quality standards are met.
• Be open to performing other duties as assigned.

Your Role As a Material Handler

As a Material Handler, your job is to provide excellent service to our stores and customers by performing all aspects of material handling including unloading, loading, warehousing, and staging of merchandise throughout the Distribution Center using manual and/or mechanical means. If you like a fast-paced, physical position that gets you up and moving, this could be the position for you!

Your Responsibilities

Physical Requirements

• Lift, carry, push, pull, reach, grasp, bend and stack cartons for the duration of the shift, up to 12 hours at a time
• Stand for long periods of time and walk continuously
• Pull merchandise from multiple levels of shelving or move merchandise as needed
• Climb stairs and perform work at platform heights up to 60 feet
• Lift and carry up to 50lbs. Specific weight requirements may vary within each department.
