Material Handler Driver 1 (40 hrs/wk, 260 days)

Summary Description

Under general instructions from the Warehouse Supervisor, performs tasks related to receiving, storing, documenting inventory, order picking, packing, staging, and distributing supplies, furniture, books, and equipment throughout the district. Communicates effectively with internal and external customers. Performs related duties as required.

Exemplary Duties/Responsibilities
  • Receives shipments; unloads trucks using forklifts or electric pallet jacks; checks accuracy; documents discrepancies; moves stock to storage or departments; picks, packs, and stages orders; manually loads and verifies deliveries; operates trucks up to five tons for transporting supplies and furniture; ensures proper handling and safety during transit.
  • Inspects vehicles and equipment; performs basic maintenance; assists in district relocations; manages inventory; handles secured materials; provides customer service; collaborates with Property Control and IT; manages donations and prepares inventory records.
When Working In Teachers' Warehouse

Communicates with vendors and the public; prepares end-of-year inventory; evaluates donations; records data; handles hazardous materials safely.

Employment Standards
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One year of responsible driving experience.
  • One year of warehousing, stock, or inventory control experience.

Knowledge of basic math, computer skills, traffic laws, SDS sheets; skill in operating vehicles, lifting, stacking, using computer software, and following instructions; valid Nevada Class B CDL within 3 months; passing DOT physical, maintaining driving record, and completing safety training required.

Work Environment/Conditions

Moderate risks; use of protective gear; exposure to chemicals and moving parts.

Physical Demands

Requires physical exertion, lifting up to 50 lbs., standing, walking, bending, and similar activities. Reasonable accommodations may be provided.

Additional Information

Salary Grade 19: $18.11 - $21.83 per hour. Benefits include health insurance, retirement, paid leave, and more. Fingerprinting and background checks are required.
