Job description

Position Description

The Material Handler is responsible for performing an array of duties such as receiving and processing incoming stock and materials, picking and filling orders from stock, packing and shipping orders, and managing, organizing and retrieving materials.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Prepares and completes orders for delivery or pickup according to schedule (load, pack, wrap, label, ship).
  2. Receives and processes warehouse stock products (pick, unload, label, store).
  3. Performs inventory controls and keeps high quality standards for audit purposes.
  4. Completes deliveries by driving the truck or van to and from vendors and projects.
  5. Provides excellent quality service by following organizational standards.
  6. Preserves safe and clean work environment by keeping shelves, pallet area, and workstations neat.
  7. Promotes clean shipping supply area by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  8. Conducts daily reviews and inspections to identify and report potential discrepancies.
  9. Communicates and cooperates with supervisors and coworkers.
  10. Operates company trucks to transport and deliver materials to various job sites in a safe and timely manner.
  11. Operates and maintains preventively all warehouse vehicles and equipment.
  12. Follows quality service standards and complies with safety procedures, rules and regulations.
  13. Performs basic maintenance tasks on tools, equipment, and machinery, as needed.
  14. Elevates concerns or issues to senior staff, as appropriate.
  15. Provides support to other team members as necessary.
  16. Other duties, as assigned.

Job Qualifications

  1. High school diploma.
  2. Ability to manage time effectively, establish priorities, and finish tasks quickly.
  3. Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy objects, working in various weather conditions, and standing for extended periods. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, climb, bend, twist and reach repetitively.
  4. Strong work ethic and willingness to learn on the job and follow instructions.
  5. Basic communication skills to understand and relay information within the team.
  6. Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations related to construction tasks.
  7. Must be at least 18 years of age.
