Job summary

Cypress-Fairbanks ISD is seeking a Material Handler for the Distribution Center. The role requires a High School Diploma or GED, a valid Class C license (Class B CDL with air brake endorsement preferred), and the ability to read, count, and communicate in English.

Experience in warehousing and the ability to lift up to 80 lbs are essential. Responsibilities include receiving merchandise, pulling and staging orders, loading delivery vehicles, operating forklifts, and supporting inventory

Qualifications

• Must have a High School Diploma or GED.
• Clear and valid Driver's License (Class C required; Class B CDL with air brake endorsement preferred) and an acceptable driving record.
• Ability to speak, read and understand English and perform counting and mathematical skills.
• Warehouse or distribution center experience preferred.
• Physically able to perform duties; lift up to 80 lbs.; walk, stoop, stand, climb ladders and stairs; operate material handling equipment.
• Physically able to work in a non-air-conditioned environment.

Responsibilities

• Receive merchandise using receiving tickets, PO's and bills of lading.
• Pull and issue supplies from inventory and stage for shipping (sorting, wrapping, labeling).
• Load delivery vehicles per scheduled routing.
• Operate forklift and other warehouse equipment safely.
• Perform routine maintenance on warehouse equipment and report safety concerns.
• Learn Cypress-Fairbanks ISD purchasing and inventory systems related to material handler functions.
• Assist in weekly inventory; make emergency hot shot deliveries as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned; maintain regular attendance.

Essential Functions

• Receive merchandise utilizing receiving tickets, purchase orders and bills of lading.
• Pull and issue supplies and materials from inventory by requisition. Stage these materials by packaging items to make them ready for shipping inclusive of sorting, wrapping, packaging and labeling orders.
• Load delivery vehicles according to scheduled routing.
• Operate forklift, pallet moving and other standard warehousing equipment safely.
• Perform routine maintenance to warehouse equipment and notify the supervisor of contract repairs needed or safety concerns of equipment performance.
• Learn and use the Cypress-Fairbanks ISD electronic purchasing and inventory management systems as it relates to the material handler functions.
• Assist in the weekly inventory process.
• Make emergency hot shot deliveries as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Distribution Center Manager or his designee.
• Regular and reliable attendance is an essential job function.

Working Conditions

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Continual walking, standing, climbing, stooping, bending, kneeling, and reaching; heavy lifting and carrying. Work outside and inside; work around machinery with moving parts; work around moving objects or vehicles; work on ladders and scaffolding. Exposure to dampness and humidity and slippery or uneven walking surfaces.
