ABOUT THE POSITION

Under the supervision of the Department Production Supervisor and in collaboration with the Team Leader, you will handle materials and expedite parts to designated production locations. Responsibilities include sorting, organizing, delivering, and storing parts and materials efficiently and in accordance with the production schedule, making independent decisions with minimal supervision based on provided instructions.

Key Deliverables
  1. Pull materials required to fulfill orders.
  2. Create forms to track all materials.
  3. Load and unload incoming and outgoing materials.
  4. Operate equipment necessary for moving freight.
  5. Follow all safety rules and guidelines established by Astec.
Key Activities & Responsibilities
  • Maintain inventory by labeling, stocking, and recording materials and supplies.
  • Transport heavy materials using a forklift inside and outside facilities.
  • Determine production needs based on work orders.
  • Verify items and quantities on packing slips; receive or ship as needed.
  • Package materials securely for shipment to internal and external customers.
  • Communicate effectively with internal customers regarding material requests.
  • Develop bills of lading and delivery forms.
  • Locate and verify materials against production orders.
  • Perform cycle counts of inventory as directed.
  • Utilize the current inventory computer system proficiently.
  • Sort items by destination and verify accuracy against purchase orders.
  • Conduct daily forklift and crane inspections, documenting findings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 0-1 year of related experience or training; a combination of education and experience is acceptable.
  • Forklift operation knowledge is a plus but not required.
  • Basic computer skills, including using a mouse and managing files.
  • Adept at problem-solving and adaptable to new challenges.
  • Ability to work independently with instructions and as part of a team.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to ask questions when needed.
  • Ability to understand and follow detailed instructions.
  • Capability to handle production-related stress and deadlines.
  • Willingness to accept feedback and rework tasks as necessary.
