Job summary

Sharps Medical Waste Services in Petersburg, VA, is seeking a Material Handler to support daily waste processing operations. You will move materials, assist with core plant functions, and help maintain a clean, safe work environment. The role includes paid training, uniforms, benefits, and a Stay-On bonus.

Shift is from 6:00 am to 2:30 pm. Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED and be able to lift up to 75 pounds and push/pull up to 200 pounds, with flexible overtime and weekend

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 0–2 years in warehouse, manufacturing, sanitation, or labor preferred.
• Ability to lift 50–75 pounds and push/pull up to 200 pounds.
• Ability to work safely in a fast-paced environment.
• Reliable transportation and flexible schedule including overtime/weekends.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload autoclave carts and box waste safely.
• Move carts through tipping and cart washing equipment.
• Clean containers and equipment using pressure washing tools.
• Inspect carts and containers for cleanliness and damage.
• Weigh box waste and record processing information.
• Bale cardboard and assist with loading trailers for shipment.
• Keep work areas clean and organized; follow safety policies.

As a Material Handler, you will play a critical role in supporting daily waste processing operations by safely moving materials, maintaining a clean work environment, and assisting with core plant functions. Shift Schedule:

6:0 am to 2:30 pm

Key Responsibilities

• Load and unload autoclave carts and box waste safely and efficiently.
• Move carts through tipping and cart washing equipment.
• Clean containers and equipment using pressure washing tools.
• Inspect carts and containers for cleanliness and damage.
• Weigh box waste and accurately record processing information.
• Bale cardboard and assist with loading trailers for shipment.
• Keep work areas, unloading zones, and equipment clean and organized.
• Perform general housekeeping and facility cleanup tasks.
• Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and guidelines.
• Track and document daily processing and production volumes.
• Work closely with team members to support daily operations.
• Assist with process improvements and special projects as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
