Job Description

We are proud to announce the establishment of a state-of-the-art Li-ion battery factory in the Kansas City Metro area. This green-field factory will serve as a hub for innovation in sustainable energy solutions.

If you are passionate about contributing to a sustainable future and want to be part of a team shaping the electric vehicle revolution, this opportunity is for you. We are seeking dedicated full-time, on-site team members at our new factory in DeSoto, Kansas.

Position Summary: The Material Handler oversees the movement of materials within the facility, ensuring smooth operations in receiving and shipping. Responsibilities include operating equipment like forklifts and pallet jacks, unloading/loading trucks, delivering materials to production, and handling related documentation. The role is vital for maintaining production efficiency, organization, and quality standards, requiring troubleshooting skills.

Essential Duties:

  • Deliver materials to the production floor.
  • Analyze and estimate workload based on order sheets.
  • Perform daily checks on raw materials and equipment, including cleaning and fluid levels.
  • Conduct quality checks with microscopes, calipers, and other measuring devices.
  • Operate mobile equipment such as forklifts and walkies.
  • Unload materials from delivery trucks.
  • Follow work instructions, SOPs, and safety protocols.
  • Prepare necessary documentation.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area following 6S standards.
  • Understand department workflows and be detail-oriented.
  • Communicate effectively with team members.
  • Adhere to company policies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve issues.
  • Support compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Operate and maintain tools and equipment.
  • Work all scheduled shifts.
  • Train others within the department as needed.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): PPE such as Tyvek suits, safety shoes, gloves, glasses, face masks, and hazmat suits with respirators are mandatory. Respirator fit testing will be conducted as required.

Qualifications:

Education: High school diploma, GED, or 2 years of relevant experience.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Experience with mobile equipment (forklifts, walkies).
  • Time management skills.
  • Safety-conscious attitude.
  • Proficiency in English (reading, writing, speaking).
  • Ability to create reports using MS Office.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in manufacturing, automation, or assembly.
  • Knowledge of chemical labeling and storage.
  • Ability to contribute positively to the team environment.
  • Ability to make safe, informed decisions in the absence of supervision.
  • Alignment with Panasonic's core principles.

Physical Demands:

Must be able to perform activities such as sitting (5%), walking (10%), standing (75%), and lifting (up to 20 lbs frequently, team lifts over 35 lbs).
