The material handler moves, delivers and stores raw materials and finished goods in production or warehouse areas. Works directly under the supervision of the supply chain or operations leader.
- Bring packaging materials, components, tools and other supplies to workstations as needed.
- Responsible for the unloading of the material from the trucks and inspection for any possible damage reporting any issues to the buyers.
- Ensures the accuracy of all receipts and shipments against applicable paperwork and system data where applicable, report and discrepancies to the buyers.
- Responsible for the accuracy and timeliness of all related receiving and shipping system transactions
- Issues materials to departments in the organization upon request.
This involves being responsible for the accuracy and timeliness of all related system transactions.
- Responsible for managing cores and pulling engines as required for production floor.
- Puts away parts within 4 hours clearance through receiving inspection.
- Monitors the stockroom inventory and alerts site lead buyer of any discrepancies and the other issues (low stock, expiring stock for example)
- Executes cycle counts per cycle counting schedule established by finance and supply chain buyer
- Works with operations for non-stores related inventory cycle counts.
- Uses approved material handling equipment to move parts / assemblies safely throughout shop as required.
- Responsible for following all safety requirements and department procedures / work instructions applicable to job requirements.
- Releases J-Jobs (order) per direction of leadership to support in house builds of required parts / details / assemblies.
- Timely return of SRO to applicable team member for closure in Syteline.
- Clearing out trash, empty pallets and excess packaging from production areas.
- Moving and updating kanban cards to signal material needs and track flow.
- Help the shop floor with any tasks that disrupt workflow.
- Keep track of inventory levels at work areas and communicate needs to buyers.
- Identify and raise issues related to material flow or production disruptions & other functions as assigned.
Requirements
Required Education and Experience :
High school Diploma or GED
Experience in a warehouse environment and familiarity with FedEx and UPS.
- Good work ethic, attendance and ability to work independently.
- Teamwork Orientation.
- Problem solving / analysis.
- The work environment : temperature, noise levels, inside or outside, or other factors that might affect the person's working conditions while performing the job.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.
- This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day.
- Requires mobility on the shop floor
- Must frequently bend, lift and / or move items over 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
- Standing and walking for long periods of time
