AdvanSix is seeking a Material Handler to support loading, warehousing, and shipping operations at our site in Virginia. The role emphasizes adherence to operating system principles and safety standards while working in a rotating 12-hour shift schedule.

Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma or GED and be proficient with Word/Excel, with strong teamwork and communication skills. forklift certification is preferred and training will be provided.

Qualifications

• Minimum high school diploma or GED.
• Willing and able to work a 12-hour rotating shift including holidays, weekends and overtime.
• Proficiency with a computer (Word/Excel).
• Must pass a background check and drug test.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs and work at heights; PPE provided.

Responsabilités

• Load, warehouse, and ship tankers, boxes, sacks and overseas bulk containers.
• Follow AdvanSix OS principles: Standard Work, 5S, Continuous Improvement.
• Obtain a forklift license.
• Participate in scheduled and unscheduled outages.
• Train unqualified Material Handlers.
• Perform additional duties as needed.

Job Responsibilities

• Loading, warehousing, and shipping of tankers, boxes, sacks and overseas bulk containers by using various processes (manual and mechanical)
• Participate in AdvanSix OS (Operating System) principles, i.e. Standard Work, 5S, Continuous Improvement, etc.
• Obtain a fork lift license
• Participate in scheduled and unscheduled outages
• Train unqualified Material Handlers
• Additional responsibilities as needed

Basic Qualifications

• Minimum high school diploma/GED
• Must be willing and able to work a 12-hour rotating shift environment that includes holidays, weekends, and required overtime
• Proficiency with a computer, including programs such as Word and Excel
• Must be able to complete a background check and drug test successfully
• Must have strong communication skills
• Must be willing and able to work in a team environment
• Must meet minimum physical requirements needed to perform essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation
• Must be able to safely wear, utilize, and operate all required personal protective equipment (PPE) according to manufacturer specifications.

Preferred Qualifications

• Chemical operations background/experience is preferred (at least 1 year)
• Fork truck preferred
• Able to manage multiple priorities
• Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment
• Basic computer and troubleshooting skills
• Have a strong work ethic and initiative to learn processes
• Ability to work at elevated heights - greater than 50 feet
• Comfortable entering and working in confined spaces

Physical Requirements

• Required to work on uneven and sometimes slippery surfaces and in adverse weather conditions (cold, hot, humid, rain, snow, etc.)
• Ability to lift and move objects that weigh up to 50 lbs., and exert up to 75 pounds pull
• Ability to work at elevated heights - greater than 50 feet

The hourly rate for this position is $21.96
