Job description

Job Purpose: To operate forklifts safely and efficiently; handle all freight inbound or outbound properly and orderly; maintain warehouse area with orderly stacking and good housekeeping; load/unload RJW trucks/trailers and outside carriers safely using proper procedures; ensure all shipments are correctly staged, checked, and loaded properly; store stock properly in the warehouse; perform duties to provide material handling services for warehouse shipping and receiving activities. Work from warehouse operation sheets using a forklift to pick customer orders and load on trailers. Maintain forklift safety at all times following all safety policies and procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist Warehouse Manager to ensure efficient warehouse operation.
  • Operate sit-down forklift and/or Walkie Rider.
  • Understand computers and handheld RF equipment.
  • Load and unload RJW trucks/trailers safely and efficiently, including outside carriers' equipment.
  • Work flexible 10-12 hour shifts when necessary; comfortable working at heights.
  • Pick and move stock from 1 lb. to 50 lbs. multiple times.
  • Ensure shipments are correctly staged and loaded.
  • Maintain warehouse with orderly stacking and good housekeeping.
  • Process outbound cross-dock freight as needed.
  • Store stock properly and move products into storage racks.
  • Use warehouse sheets to pick customer orders and load trailers.
  • Verify shipment accuracy against paperwork for incoming and outgoing shipments.
  • Complete all documentation accurately.
  • Operate forklifts safely, following OSHA and company policies, including wearing seatbelts.
  • Perform daily forklift maintenance inspections.
  • Handle customer products properly and orderly.
  • Check deliveries for poor packing, damage, or condition issues; report problems to Supervisor, take pictures if necessary.
  • Report accidents, damages, or incidents immediately.
  • Spot trailers to maintain yard organization and equipment flow.
  • Keep dock doors accessible and free of debris or snow.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Work with urgency, accountability, and minimal supervision.
  • Read, write, and understand English.
  • Pay attention to detail and quality.
  • Communicate clearly, resolve problems effectively, and demonstrate good interpersonal skills.
  • Work overtime and cover shifts as needed.
  • Proficiency with PC and RF equipment is helpful.
  • Experience with sit-down forklifts/EPJs, pallet building, and cross-docking freight.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced warehouse environment.
Qualifications

Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Warehousing certifications are a plus.
