Material Handler A - WKD shift - Warehouse
Under general supervision, the Material Handler is responsible for counting, examining, weighing, and checking incoming materials and supplies. The role includes pulling materials from stock for fabrication, storing or delivering materials as needed.
This position covers multiple departments within the manufacturing facility.
A Day In The Life
- Move materials to and from loading docks, trucks, storage, and manufacturing areas using hand tools or material handling equipment (MHE) such as hand trucks, pallet jacks, carts, forklifts, or hydraulic lifts.
- Load and unload incoming and outgoing materials and products.
- Perform and report cycle counts.
- Maintain inventory by labeling and placing materials in stock, recording their locations.
- Locate and deliver materials based on the bill of materials to the appropriate work areas.
- Ensure in-process inventory is maintained at work centers by delivering and opening materials.
- Document the disposition of materials and supplies, recording units delivered and their locations.
- Receive credit-return materials, verifying code, lot number, and quantity, then restock.
- Operate forklifts, hand tools, and other equipment safely to move freight and materials.
- Secure items on pallets and place on racks.
- Maintain material-handling equipment through pre-use inspections and proper record-keeping.
- Keep work areas, warehouse, storage areas, and equipment clean and organized.
- Follow all environmental and safety regulations.
- Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing related tasks as needed.
- Perform cycle count responsibilities and bin consolidation.
- Use ERP systems for root cause analysis and problem-solving.
- Coordinate subcontracting processes within the area.
- Work with Lead, Planner, and Production Supervisor to prioritize and resolve issues.
- Address and resolve material handling errors promptly.
- Assist or serve as backup for Material Handler Lead and train new or existing Material Handlers.
Qualifications for Success
- 3-5 years of related experience
- Experience with SAP preferred
- Ability to prioritize and complete tasks promptly
- Ability to multi-task
- Knowledge of safety equipment and procedures
