Job summary

Valmont in Bellville, Texas is hiring for a Shipping/Receiving role. This position handles the movement of material, operates forklifts, and ensures proper labeling, paperwork, and inventory accuracy in a fast-paced warehouse.

The role supports Lean manufacturing and safety initiatives, with opportunities to train new employees and contribute to continuous improvement in the plant.

Qualifications

• Must demonstrate good literacy skills.
• Ability to read and interpret measurement tools and documents.
• Attention to detail in handling product and paperwork.
• Knowledge of safety practices in a warehouse environment.
• Familiarity with Lean manufacturing, Gemba and 5S is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Handle shipping and receiving of products with proper paperwork.
• Move material using forklifts and other mobile equipment.
• Maintain accurate inventory counts and proper storage of material.
• Perform six-point inspections of finished product prior to shipping.
• Create and read shipping papers, bills of lading and manifests.
• Participate in department safety programs and training.

A Brief Summary of This Position

This position in an individual contributor position and will be responsible for the shipping and receiving of product with certification of proper mobile equipment. This individual will be required to operate equipment to move material including forklifts.

Essential Functions

• Must demonstrate good literacy skills
• Be able to create Manifest For Hazardous Materials
• Responsilble for incoming product being received and proper signage on paperwork.
• Responsible for product storage in warehouse
• Responsible for inventory count on material
• Responsible for inspection of material received.
• Responsible for six-point inspections of finished product prior to shipping.
• Be able to create and read tags, bills of lading, and shipping and receiving papers
• Knowledge of department and plant processes
• Certification of mobile equipment used
• Perform safety audits
• Train new employees
• Participates in Lean manufacturing, Gemba and 5S
• Ability to accurately use and read a tape measure
• Ability to drive and operate a forklift
• Ability to work overtime as required to meet business needs
• Demonstrates the ability of attention to detail of product and processes
• Maintains an attitude that unlawful or unethical actions are not accepted
• Performs other duties directed by leaders and management
• Actively participate in department safety, demonstrate excellent safety practices and behaviors, which conform to all Valmont safety policy and procedures
