Job summary

Valmont Industries, Inc. in Bellville, Texas is seeking a Shipping & Receiving Associate to unload, receive and store incoming products, identify materials, and manage paperwork with truck drivers and vendors.

This role supports inventory control, material handling, and safe operation practices. You will participate in Lean manufacturing, Gemba and 5S initiatives, perform safety audits, and ensure accurate load building and documentation while working overtime as needed.

• Experience in shipping/receiving operations
• Ability to read and measure materials with tape measure
• Attention to detail and accuracy in paperwork

Responsibilities

• Receive, unload and store incoming product
• Identify materials and products to be loaded/unloaded accurately
• Ensure proper signage on paperwork and proper paperwork flow
• Maintain inventory counts and storage organization
• Inspect received materials for quality and compliance
• Participate in Lean, Gemba and 5S practices and safety audits

This position will be responsible for the shipping and receiving of product and be able to quickly communicate potential shipping and receiving issues. Individual will be interacting with customers and truck drivers and coordinating special handling of material.

Essential Functions

• Responsible for receiving, unloading and storing incoming product
• Must be able to properly identify materials and product beling loaded and unloaded
• Will be responsible for proper signage on paperwork.
• Responsible for product storage in warehouse.
• Responsible for inventory count on material.
• Responsible for inspection of material received.
• Knowledge of department and plant processes.
• Perform safety audits.
• Participate in Lean manufacturing, Gemba and 5S.
• Ability to accurately use and read a tape measure.
• Ability to work overtime as required to meet business needs.
• Demonstrates the ability of attention to detail of product and processes.
• Maintains an attitude that unlawful or unethical actions are not accepted.
• Performs other duties directed by leaders and management.
• Actively participate in department safety, demonstrate excellent safety practices and behaviors, which conform to all Valmont safety policy and procedures.

Other Important Details About The Role

• Ability to communicate and interact with coworkers and vendors in a professional manner
• Must be able to understand the schedule and inventory of materials and inventory counts
• Identify and report safety hazards
• Load and unload trailers and trolleys
• Have the ability to understanding load processing and proper load building
• Assist with general plant clean up and housekeeping
• Have the ability to train others
• This position reports to the Department Supervisor
