This function involves the location of appropriate material as well as proper lifting and transport procedures. Similarly, the incumbent is called on to transport material after processing or between processing steps and properly position it for shipping or further processing. In some cases, the incumbent uses cranes, fork lifts, and other equipment to reposition heavy tooling and assist production or maintenance personnel with its installation or removal. At the direction of others, the incumbent obtains samples for testing by others.
The Material Handler is required to be capable of performing all essential job functions of Packager and possesses all Packager knowledge, skills, abilities, and qualifications.
The Material Handler performs all duties according to location policies and procedures, manufacturer instructions, and within accepted safety rules and practices. The incumbent is aware of all applicable emergency procedures and may be called upon to direct others in these procedures.
