Job summary

sg360 seeks a dependable Material Handler 3 for 1st shift (7am to 3pm) in Wheeling, IL. The role supports shipping/receiving, performs material handling, and ensures accurate documentation.

Responsibilities include loading/unloading, inventory counts, and preparing loads for shipment. High school diploma or GED, 1–3 years warehousing, and basic computer skills are preferred; forklift experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED preferred.
• 1–3 years in warehousing, shipping and receiving or related field preferred.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office.
• Basic typing and computer skills.
• Ability to read and understand shipping and receiving documents.
• Average English oral and written communication skills.
• Basic math skills.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload material from trucks and vans using a lift truck, clamp truck, manual jack, or dolly.
• Operate trailer restraints, dock plates, overhead doors, banding, and wrapping equipment.
• Deliver raw material, including roll stock, to production areas.
• Collect loads of finished goods from the pressroom.
• Weigh and count finished goods using computerized scale, prepare related documentation.
• Verify inventory counts for production teams.
• Deliver general inventory to the pressroom.
• Prepare finished loads for shipment, including flagging/labeling, wrapping, banding and staging.
• Store materials in a neat and orderly fashion in the warehouse.
• Accurately scan materials to and from warehouse, dock and production locations.
• Check the accuracy of all shipping and receiving documents.
• Assist in maintaining warehouse and facility security.
• Assist in housekeeping for warehouse, scale, inside and outside and dock areas.
• Inventory and maintain packaging and shipping supplies, including pallets, pallet tops, wrap, cartons, labels, banding and other related materials.
• Inspect lift truck at start of shift and perform general shift maintenance.

We are looking for a motivated and dependable individual to join our shipping and receiving team as a Material Handler 3. Our company is seeking a Material Handler 3 for 1st shift (7am to 3pm). This is a union position covered by the applicable collective bargaining agreement. This individual will help assist in the coordination of timely and accurate shipping documents and functions. The Material Handler 3 will operate a variety of material handling equipment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Load and unload material from trucks and vans using a lift truck, clamp truck, manual jack, or dolly.


• Operate trailer restraints, dock plates, overhead doors, banding, and wrapping equipment.

• Check the accuracy of all shipping and receiving documents.

Requirements

Qualifications

Education & Experience Requirements

• High School diploma or GED preferred.


• One to three years of experience in warehousing, shipping, and receiving, or a related field preferred.


• Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office.


• Basic typing and computer skills.


• Ability to read and understand shipping and receiving documents.


• Average English oral and written communication skills.


• Basic math skills.

Preferred Knowledge & Skills

• Forklift certification is a plus.


• Prior experience operating a forklift and/or clamp truck.


• Ability to operate propane-powered or electric forklifts and clamp trucks.


• Experience using handheld barcode scanners.


• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.


• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced warehouse environment.


• Ability to follow safety procedures and work instructions.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

• Full motion/motor skills in all body parts.


• Ability to stand or walk for entire shift.


• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly throughout the workday.
