Job description

Atkore has an opening for a Material Handler at our New Bedford, MA facility. This is a 2nd shift position (4:00 pm to midnight), Monday through Friday. Occasional overtime, including weekends, may be required. Training may occur on 1st shift (8 am - 4 pm) or 3rd shift (midnight - 8 am).

Atkore is a leading manufacturer and distributor of electrical, mechanical, and safety infrastructure solutions, with approximately 3,900 employees and 65 facilities worldwide. We produce electrical conduit, cable management systems, armored cable, metal framing, and security products, committed to quality, delivery, and value.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent. Experience in lean manufacturing or business systems is a plus. Responsibilities include:

  1. Perform daily safety inspections of forklifts and work areas.
  2. Communicate with the previous shift.
  3. Operate forklifts safely, adhering to load limits and securing loads.
  4. Transport finished goods and raw materials.
  5. Load and unload trailers, inspect trailers before loading.
  6. Secure trailers with wheel chocks, locks, and jacks; complete safety sign-off sheets.
  7. Wrap steel returnable skids.
  8. Handle inventory tickets and maintain a clean, organized wrapping area.
  9. Perform housekeeping of machinery and work areas.

Qualifications include proficiency with material handling devices, understanding safety rules, time management skills, ability to follow instructions in English, and good attendance.
