Job summary

Russel Metals is seeking a Material Handler for a 2nd shift (3:30pm–10:30pm) at our Charlotte, NC facility. This full-time, on-site role emphasizes safety, quality inspections, and accurate material handling as part of our operations team.

You will perform crane inspections, locate materials, verify orders, load/unload trucks, and support shipping, receiving, and housekeeping duties while adhering to PPE and ISO/QMS standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily pre-shift crane inspections.
• Locate material as allocated on work orders.
• Verify material meets order requirements.
• Do AS IS orders as required.
• Fill out and complete all necessary documents and forms.
• Load and unload trucks using overhead crane.
• Perform shipping and receiving inspections.
• Stack plate in designated storage areas.
• Perform daily crane inspections.
• Collaborate with burner operator to remove scrap from table.
• Collaborate with burner operator to remove finished parts from table.
• Assist with cleaning and packaging functions.
• Assist in various other duties as directed by supervisor.
• Maintain safe and good housekeeping in work areas.
• Always wear proper PPE.
• Initiate action to prevent non-conformities relating to product, process, and QMS/EMS.
• Identify and record any problems relating to the product, process, and Quality/Environmental system.
• Initiate, recommend or provide solutions through designated channels.
• Verify the implementation of solutions.
• Control further processing or delivery of nonconforming product until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected.

Position Overview:

The Material Handler will be responsible for workplace safety procedures, conducting quality inspections, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations and ISO company standards. This role is essential in maintaining a safe work environment while also ensuring that products meet the highest levels of quality before reaching customers.
