Overview

This position involves handling steel materials by reading and executing work orders to meet customer requirements. It is a nonexempt (hourly) role reporting to the Warehouse Supervisor or Manager, with no supervisory duties. The role requires adherence to Triple-S Steel's safety standards and work methods. Overtime may be necessary to fulfill customer needs.

Responsibilities

• Follow safety procedures at all times and report unsafe conditions.
• Safely move steel to and from storage, production areas, loading docks, and delivery vehicles using appropriate equipment.
• Attach slings, hooks, or devices to lift materials and guide loads; climb onto vehicles to secure or release loads.
• Lift and carry up to 50 pounds for distances up to 25 feet, and exert force as needed during work activities.
• Apply proper bundling techniques and configure loads for transportation.
• Maximize trailer load capacity safely.
• Maintain and operate tools and equipment such as tape measures, forklifts, cranes, etc.
• Identify and report safety issues related to equipment.
• Work indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Maintain spatial awareness to navigate safely around moving objects and personnel.
• Attend all required meetings and perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Ability to read work orders or follow oral instructions accurately.
• Meet or exceed productivity standards safely.
• Plan and organize work independently and in teams.
• Develop knowledge of product and inventory control.
