Join to apply for the MATERIAL HANDLER 2nd Shift role at E&E Manufacturing Co, Inc.

The responsibilities of this position include receiving steel, handling rejected steel, managing inventory both physically and in the computer system, processing paperwork for receipts and rejections, delivering steel to presses, and performing other material handling and inventory control tasks as needed. Additionally, housekeeping duties are required.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Responsibilities:
  1. Unload trucks delivering raw materials using a 23,000 lbs industrial forklift.
  2. Operate overhead cranes ranging from 10-40 tons safely.
  3. Measure steel to determine width and thickness.
  4. Identify the job for which the raw material is used.
  5. Document job numbers on raw materials.
  6. Log received material in the MRP system (Plex).
  7. Store raw materials in the warehouse and group similar items together.
  8. Maintain re-weights of returned materials from production.
  9. Pull and pre-stage raw materials using the forklift.
  10. Participate in raw material inventory audits by weighing materials.
  11. Place scrap raw materials in containers for delivery to the scrap dealer.
  12. Support press operators by replacing full and empty tubs and slug tubs.
  13. Perform a pre-operation walk-around of forklifts and report issues.
  14. Train new employees in material handling responsibilities.
  15. Balance multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
  16. Operate forklifts and overhead cranes considering human traffic.
  17. Work overtime as required.
  18. Communicate effectively and work well with others.

Work may involve exposure to loud noises, humid conditions, fumes, outdoor weather, and vibration. Ear protection is required. Physical demands include standing, walking, sitting, handling objects, reaching, climbing, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, depth perception, and focus adjustment.

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • At least one year of industry experience.
  • Valid Michigan Driver License; Hi-Lo and overhead crane licenses are preferred.
  • Basic computer skills and effective communication skills are necessary.
  • Attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving skills are required.
