Position Summary

The Material Handler is a functional role that includes order picking, stocking, packaging, and other material handling tasks to ensure timely and accurate shipments are made to our customers using various indicators or signals. To assure team continuity across all warehouse operations, this position may also be required to learn, perform, and/or be certified to assist in other areas of Warehouse Operations, including material control, traffic, or others as assigned.

Shift Hours: Monday - Friday 2:00 pm - 10:30 pm

What You'll do as a Material Handler
  • At the direction of the supervisor, this employee will assist the supervisor or the shipping clerk in the loading of drayage or direct outbound truck lines by directing the fork truck driver to bring correct materials and correctly counting all freight.
  • Must be capable of assembling products for shipment through various parcel services using necessary shipping equipment and procedures.
  • Must be capable of safely operating and electrically recharging the order picker equipment.
  • Must exercise extreme caution in order to not damage other material or property while operating the order picker equipment and must at all times exercise extreme caution for the safety of other employees.
  • Is responsible for proper daily operation and complete proper set up of semi-automatic label application equipment.
  • Must maintain written and/or electronic records as required by management (i.e. cGMP and ISO procedures).
  • Is responsible for picking, labeling, packing, checking, preparing for shipment, documenting, ship confirming, and palletizing small parcel orders using whatever typical equipment is provided for this purpose.
  • Is responsible for keeping shipping area, equipment, and surrounding work area clean at all times.
  • Under the direction and monitoring of department supervisor, is responsible for the training of a replacement Order Filler.
  • Performs other duties as directed by supervisor.
The Experience, Skills and Abilities Needed

Required:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Ability to read and comprehend written instructions, safety warning labels, and machine instruction manuals.
  • Basic math and writing skills.
  • May be expected to move, carry, and lift approximately 60 pounds.
  • May be expected to climb heights of approximately 15 feet, and stand for long periods of time.
  • Good hand/eye coordination.

Preferred:

  • Previous Forklift and/or Order Picker experience is desirable.
  • Performs necessary quality and inventory control data gathering and input in either written or electronic formats.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision, and have basic computer skills.
