The Sort Area Material Handler is responsible for executing material identification, separation, and packaging activities under the direction of the Warehouse Operation Manager and Sort Area Leads. This role involves handling batteries received via recycling programs, maintaining organization, and ensuring efficient operation of the sort area.

Duties And Responsibilities

• Create a safe work environment and participate in safety improvement projects.
• Maintain weekly inventory control of waste and good products, and inform leadership of material needs.
• Perform cardboard bailing and make gaylord boxes for teams.
• Organize mezzanines and secondary storage areas, stage drums and pails.
• Load scrap trucks and move materials according to FIFO from Filemaker queues.
• Package and load finalized materials, updating locations in Filemaker.
• Manage collection units and remove empty boxes and materials to prevent delays.
• Support inventory cycle counting for accuracy.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and understand product labels, instructions, and safety documentation.
• Familiarity with Filemaker and FIFO procedures.
• Basic analytical, decision-making, and communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Operate bailer, wrapper, and forklift (certified).
• Physically capable of lifting up to 40 pounds, standing/sitting for extended periods, visual identification, and manipulating small items.

Education And Training

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1 year of warehouse and forklift experience.
• Proficiency in basic English communication.
