Linamar Corporation in Indiana seeks a Material Handler with forklift experience to support production through efficient material handling, shipping, and receiving.

This role requires attention to safety, ability to read and follow procedures, and effective radio communication. High School Diploma preferred; 1+ year forklift experience in manufacturing is desirable.

Qualifications

• Forklift experience in a manufacturing setting required or preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, instructions, and procedures.
• Strong math skills for measuring and unit conversion.
• Ability to communicate clearly via handheld radio.
• Knowledge of IATF 16949 quality systems is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Move materials, supplies, and raw stock to designated places to maintain workflow in production departments.
• Perform forklift safety inspections daily and follow safety rules; keep area clean and orderly.
• Notify supervisor and segregate any unserviceable containers.
• Take all deliveries with packing slips to designated areas (e.g., stockroom items to stockroom).
• Keep outside dunnage area organized.
• Take hydraulic fluid/moat to die cast when needed.
• Responsible for servicing both Die Cast and Machining departments.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job Summary

This position is responsible for a wide variety of support services to production and service departments involving material handling, shipping and receiving.

Responsibility

• Perform duties to move materials, supplies, and raw stock to designated places in the facility as needed to maintain the flow of work in various production departments.
• Perform forklift safety inspections daily and note any problems or concerns. Follow safety rules and keep work area clean and orderly.
• Notify supervisor and segregate any unserviceable containers
• Take all deliveries along with packing slips to designated areas. (Ex: Stockroom items to the stockroom)
• Keep outside dunnage area organized
• Take hydraulic fluid/moat to die cast when needed
• Responsible to service both Die Cast and Machining departments
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

Academic/Educational Requirements

High School Diploma or Equivalency Preferred

Required Skills/Experience

• One or more years of forklift experience working in a manufacturing setting preferred.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
• Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
• Ability to communicate promptly and effectively on a hand-held radio
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
• Knowledge of IATF – 16949 quality systems
