Job Description

The Material Handler is responsible for moving production and materials throughout the facility and on/off trucks by operating gasoline, liquefied gas, or electric-powered industrial trucks equipped with lifting devices such as forklifts, clamps, and elevating platforms.

Primary Responsibilities

1. Load, unload, and move products, ingredients, and other materials safely using a forklift, following all safety procedures.
2. Obtain and maintain forklift certification.
3. Ensure proper operation of processing equipment and assist operators as needed to maintain product quality.
4. Weigh materials and complete all documentation accurately.
5. Inventory materials and supply workers with needed materials.
6. Perform daily forklift and safety inspections.
7. Move materials and products onto and off pallets, skids, or lifting devices.
8. Stand, walk, sit, handle, reach, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl as needed. Frequently lift or move heavy objects up to 50 lbs, or assist others with heavier objects.
9. Work in outdoor conditions and around fumes, odors, dusts, and mists. Be aware of hazards such as moving mechanical parts, chemicals, extreme temperatures, confined spaces, or high levels.
10. Maintain quality standards in accordance with GMP, sanitation, safety, and HACCP programs.
11. Follow all safety practices and regulations, including emergency procedures and lockout/tagout.
12. Execute special projects and other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

High school diploma or GED, or 1-3 months related experience/training, or equivalent. Ability to read, write, perform basic math, and understand instructions. Initiative and self-starting abilities are important.
