Job summary

RRD Company in Lancaster, OH is seeking an Air Force MOS/Packaging Helper to support printing and packaging operations on the 2nd shift. You will remove and stack printed sheets, inspect for defects, and prepare materials for warehouse transfer, with hands-on use of dollies, banding, and palletizing.

The role focuses on handling, counting, labeling, and quality checks in a fast-paced print/packaging environment. Competitive hourly pay and potential for growth are offered.

Qualifications

• Stock, move, and count items on printing press equipment.
• Know operation of automatic counters; tally counts for jobs.
• Complete stock description forms including quantity and labeling requirements.
• Understand warehouse layout and stock locations to place or pull materials.
• Use manual dollies, hand trucks, and basic tools for material handling.

Responsibilities

• Remove, flex, jog, and stack printed sheets, folded signatures, labels or other in-process product from discharge unit of printing press or adhesive coating equipment.
• Review signatures for smearing, register issues, bad folds, etc. and notify the Pressroom.
• Remove folded signatures from web press and palletize for removal to warehouse or binding areas.
• May adjust stacking mechanism on press according to paper dimensions. Load and unload materials onto or from pallets, carts and trays.
• Convey materials from storage or work sites to designated area, using hand truck, electric dolly, or other device.
• Counts, weighs, and records number of units of materials moved or handled on daily production sheet.
• Attaches identifying tags or labels to materials or marks information on cases, etc.
• Stacks or assembles materials into bundles and bands bundles together, using banding machine and clincher.
• May use automated equipment and/or operate industrial truck or electric hoist to assist in loading or moving materials and products.
• May assist Press Crew with make-ready of the equipment such as retrieving plates, hanging plates, recycling/storing plates etc.
• May perform in process quality checks of printed materials looking for blemishes, scratches or other print defects

Qualifications

• Able to stock, move, jog, arrange, unload, count and rotate items on/off printing press equipment in accordance with operating instructions or under guidance of a press operator or supervisor
• May require knowledge of operation of automatic counters and tabulate counts for jobs
• Able to complete appropriate forms relating to stock description, quantity, unit of issue, and the labeling requirements for incoming and outgoing materials
• Good knowledge of general warehouse layout, item identification codes, basic warehouse procedures, and the storage areas in order to be able to place or pull paper stock, signatures and materials in accordance with standard procedures
• Good skill in the use of manual dollies, carts or hand trucks and hand tools used in material handling tasks such as hammers, pliers, strapping and stretch wrapping tools and equipment, tape fasteners, metal band sheers and related equipment
