Your Role:

MilliporeSigma is looking for a Material Handler II to add to the Functional Genomics Operations Group at our Spruce/St. Louis site. You’ll be working with a team that provides leading functional genomics technologies including RNA interference (shRNA) for gene silencing and cutting-edge systems for gene editing and gene knockout (CRISPR/Cas9, ZFN’s). This area focuses on manufacturing custom made to order products in Bacterial, DNA, RNA and Viral formats for Academic, Pharma and Research centers. They also work closely with R&D, Marketing, Sales and Bioinformatics teams on development, transfer, and manufacturing of existing and new products.

As a Material Handler II you’ll focus on all packaging, reviewing, stocking and shipping of the products. In this role, you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Handle day to day Receiving and Shipping functions include dock operations, inspection, tracking inventory, movement, storage, order filling, pick, pack and shipping of customer orders in compliance with all company operating procedures and government regulations (ISO, OSHA, DEA, DOT,IATA, etc.)
  • Handle all incoming material storing at the correct temperature per protocol
  • Inspect and compare with packing lists, bills of lading, purchase orders discrete jobs, variances, MRA’s and/or related documentation
  • Report discrepancies or damaged goods
  • Document and label materials according to procedure
  • Monitor logistics operations and coordinate with Carriers and 3PL partners to resolve storage, shipping, or customer concerns
  • Lead process improvement activities resulting in safety, quality, productivity, and cost saving improvements
  • Ensure all activities comply with ISO 9001, Site quality expectations
  • Promote Safety Culture and Environmental policy, enforce company work and housekeeping standard
  • Use a computer and other program to capture production/shipping information
  • Stage materials and supplies
  • Manage supply inventory of stock room; processing incoming material and loading data into internal database and SAP systems
  • Other support functions for the laboratory as needed
  • Working in distribution area to execute day to day shipment of products
  • Perform all activities in a safe working manner and in compliance with all safety policies and regulations
  • Report any unsafe working conditions or safety concerns
  • Read and understand all written procedures as outlined in SOPs and batch records
  • Follow all quality guidelines throughout process
  • Maintain good housekeeping in working areas
  • Work as a productive member of a team
  • Make recommendations for continuous process improvements

Physical Attributes

  • Lift, push, and or pull up to 50lbs
  • Stand for long periods of time
  • Gown according to PPE guidelines such as lab coat, safety goggles, gloves, etc.

Who You Are

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 1+ year(s) of experience working in a manufacturing/warehouse environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associates Degree or Vocational Tech Training
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Previous experience of shipping with dry ice internationally or domestic
  • Ability to lead and work in a team setting and independently
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize
  • Experience troubleshooting processes and/or equipment
