Olsten Staffing is hiring a Distribution Center Material Handler for 1st shift in a fast-paced warehouse environment. Pay ranges from $18.00 to $19.00 per hour with hours 6:00 AM - 4:30 PM, Monday to Friday with weekends as needed.

The role involves receiving, storing, moving, and shipping materials, supporting inventory control, and adhering to safety and quality standards. Prior forklift/WMS experience is preferred and a High School Diploma or GED is required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 0-1 year of warehouse or material handling experience required.
• 1+ years of warehouse, logistics, or WMS/scanner experience preferred.
• Forklift, Reach Truck, and Tugger experience preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Receive inbound materials and verify shipments against Bills of Lading (BOL).
• Transport materials to designated storage locations and label properly.
• Prepare shipments according to procedures and CT-PAT standards; load trailers safely.
• Stage materials using pick lists with a high level of accuracy; organize orders for shipment.
• Perform daily cycle counts and investigate inventory discrepancies; maintain accuracy.
• Follow safety policies and PPE requirements; maintain 5S-compliant work areas.

Now Hiring! Olsten Staffing is seeking reliable and motivated Distribution Center Material Handlers to join a fast-paced warehouse and distribution team.

Pay: $18.00 - $19.00 per hour

Shift: 1st Shift

Hours: 6:00 AM - 4:30 PM (Monday-Friday, weekends as needed)

Position Summary

The Distribution Center Material Handler is responsible for the accurate receipt, storage, movement, and shipment of materials throughout the Distribution Center. This role supports receiving, shipping, inventory control, and warehouse operations while maintaining safety, quality, and productivity standards.

Key Responsibilities

Receiving & Inbound Operations

• Receive inbound materials and verify shipments against Bills of Lading (BOL)
• Conduct trailer inspections and document conditions
• Report damaged or missing materials
• Scan and assign inventory to correct warehouse locations
• Maintain accurate receiving documentation

Material Storage & Put Away

• Transport materials to designated storage locations
• Ensure proper labeling and organization of inventory
• Clear cross-dock areas prior to end of shift

Shipping & Cross-Docking

• Prepare shipments according to company procedures and CT-PAT standards
• Load trailers safely and efficiently
• Secure and inspect loads before shipment
• Complete shipping paperwork and documentation

Order Fulfillment

• Stage materials using pick lists with a high level of accuracy
• Organize orders for efficient shipment and delivery

Inventory Control

• Perform daily cycle counts
• Investigate and report inventory discrepancies
• Help maintain inventory accuracy throughout the warehouse

Workplace Safety & Organization

• Follow all safety policies and PPE requirements
• Maintain clean and organized work areas using 5S principles
• Support continuous improvement initiatives

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required

0-1 year of warehouse or material handling experience required

1+ years of warehouse, logistics, or WMS/scanner experience preferred

Forklift, Reach Truck, and Tugger experience preferred

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

Ability to work independently and as part of a team
