Job summary

Metals USA in Oakwood, GA is seeking a Material Handler for 1st shift. This role performs material storage and movement with limited supervision, reporting to the Group Leader/Shift Supervisor.

Qualifications

• Tag materials for proper identification.
• Pull and assemble customer orders in order of delivery.
• Operate yard truck for loading and unloading trailers.
• Operate cranes to load and unload trailers.
• Operate forklift (5k or 10k) to load and unload trailers.
• Load and secure material onto truck.
• Complete production and quality paperwork; follow data collection procedures.
• Perform grinding and oxy-fuel torch tasks as needed.
• Maintain clean, safe work areas and return tools to designated areas.
• Ensure machine centers are loaded with material for production.
• Notify management of discrepancies, malfunctions, or injuries.
• Maintain regular and predictable attendance.

Material Handler / 1st shift

Metals USA has an immediate opening for a Material Handler / 1st Shift in our Oakwood, GA facility. The Material Handler / 1st shift works under limited supervision, performing duties related to the storage and movement of inventory or equipment. The position reports to Group Leader /Shift Supervisor.

• Receives and returns materials into stock inventory locations
• Tags materials for proper identification
• Pulls and assembles customer orders in order of delivery
• Operates yard truck for the purpose of loading and unloading trailers
• Operates cranes to load and unload trailers
• Operates forklift (5k or 10k) to load and unload trailers
• Loads and secures material onto truck
• Completes and production and quality paperwork; follows shop system data collection procedures.
• Performs tasks that include grinding and using an oxy fuel torch
• Maintains work areas in a clean, orderly, and safe manner, including the return of tools and equipment to designated areas.
• Assures all machine operation centers are timely loaded with material for production
• Notifies management of product discrepancies, equipment malfunctions and/or personal injuries.
• Regular and predictable attendance is required to perform the duties of a Material Handler.

Occupation requires physical activity more than 66% of the time (> 5.5 hours per day)
