Carlisle Architectural Metals (CAM) is hiring for an on-site Material Handler/Forklift Operator in Elk Grove Village, IL. The role supports production and warehouse operations, moving materials, inspecting finished goods, and assisting other areas as needed.

Regular 40-hour weeks with possible overtime; on-site at 1005 Tonne Road, Elk Grove Village, IL 60007. The position offers benefits and a $24.19 hourly rate with a $1,500 sign-on bonus paid in increments, along with a comprehensive benefits

Job Summary

Material Handlers support production at Carlisle Architectural Metals (CAM) facilities with the movement of materials and products, including taking part in warehouse organizing and finished goods inspection, taking product off the production line and putting it away in designated locations in the warehouse, and providing raw materials to production lines. Forklift Operators may also fill in for other jobs in the facility as business needs dictate. Standard work week 40 hours a week with occasional overtime, no travel required.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Perform pre-shift forklift inspections on forklift.
• Record preventative maintenance activities, quality inspection data, equipment downtime, production output and other key metrics, performing mathematical calculations as needed.
• Safely operate a propane sit-down forklift to move raw materials or finished products throughout the manufacturing floor, which includes, but is not limited to, keeping production line clear and running and keeping product and raw materials properly stored.
• Visually inspect material for quality defects. Segregate defective products and notify supervisor.
• Fill dumpsters from production floor; Housekeeping of plant (inside and out).
• Work as a team with production and shipping team to follow all facility Standard Works/processes and improve operations.
• Support the recycling/scrap area, when needed, and help to keep it organized.
• Fill in on other areas of the plant as required.
• Assists other forklift operators as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

• Highly motivated with a good, sound work ethic.
• Prior experience operating a propane sit-down forklift or other mobile equipment (Powered Industrial Trucks).
• Must demonstrate safe working practices and possess great attention to detail.
• Ability to follow CCM’s policies, procedures, and processes.
• Good communication, organization, and time management skills.
• Basic computer, mathematics, and problem-solving skills; ability to use a calculator.
• Ability to use measuring devices (gauges, tapes, rulers).
• Team player able to follow instructions from both management and peers.
• Ability to learn and operate new equipment.

Education and Experience:

• Required:
• High School Diploma or GED is Preferred
• Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
• Prior experience in a manufacturing setting

Working Conditions:

• Fast paced manufacturing environment where workers are exposed to both ambient/outside temperatures and dust; working with mechanical parts and pinch points; exposure to increased noise levels.
• Hours worked: 8-10 hours/shift, varies on shift schedule and business volume.
• Flexible to the possibility of overtime and weekend hours when required.
• Heavy, stationary machinery on the manufacturing floor.

As a Material Handler, you will be entitled to the following:

• An Hourly Rate of $24.19
• A sign on bonus of $1,500 that will be paid in three increments:
• $500 paid approximately 90 days following hire date
• $500 paid approximately 180 days following hire date
• $500 paid approximately 270 days following hire date
