Job summary

Engineered Products, LLC is seeking a Material Handler to support the safe, accurate movement of materials across the Easley, SC manufacturing floor. MATERIAL HANDLER

Reports to: Operations Manager/Production Supervisor

Location: Easley, SC

Position Summary

The Material Handler supports the safe, accurate, and efficient movement of materials throughout the manufacturing operation. Based on production needs and individual qualifications, this position may perform kitting, loading and unloading, forklift operation, assembly, inventory control, shipping and receiving, and production-line support.

Material Handlers may work across welding, paint, roll form, assembly, warehouse, and shipping operations. Employees are expected to cross-train in multiple functions to maintain production flow, minimize downtime, and meet safety, quality, delivery, and productivity expectations.

Areas of Responsibility
Material Handling and Production Support
  • Load, unload, transport, and stage raw materials, components, work-in-process, and finished products.
  • Supply materials to production areas and move completed parts to the next operation, storage location, or shipping area.
  • Safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks, carts, hand trucks, hoists, cranes, and other approved equipment.
  • Handle long, heavy, or oversized steel components using appropriate equipment and established procedures.
  • Organize materials, racks, pallets, containers, and staging areas.
  • Communicate material shortages, damaged parts, workflow interruptions, and equipment concerns promptly.
  • Rotate among departments and assignments based on training and production needs.
Kitting and Inventory
  • Pull and assemble parts and materials into production kits according to work orders, production schedules, and Bills of Materials.
  • Verify part numbers, quantities, labels, dimensions, and documentation before staging or distributing materials.
  • Deliver completed kits to designated production areas according to schedule.
  • Record material movements, kit transactions, work orders, and inventory information in the ERP or warehouse management system.
  • Use barcode scanners or RF technology as required.
  • Report and assist in resolving inventory discrepancies.
  • Support cycle counts and inventory audits.
Shipping and Receiving
  • Load and unload flatbed, step-deck, Conestoga, and other trailers.
  • Verify incoming and outgoing materials against bills of lading, packing slips, work orders, and transfer records.
  • Inspect materials for visible damage, incorrect quantities, or identification issues.
  • Store incoming materials in designated locations and stage finished products for shipment.
  • Complete required shipping, receiving, and material-transfer documentation.
  • Coordinate with truck drivers and internal departments to support production and delivery schedules.
Assembly and Quality Support
  • Assemble parts and components according to drawings, diagrams, work instructions, and standard operating procedures.
  • Use basic hand tools, fixtures, measuring devices, and production equipment safely.
  • Inspect materials, kits, and completed assemblies for proper identification, quantity, fit, and visible defects.
  • Segregate and report damaged, missing, incorrect, or nonconforming materials.
  • Maintain material identification and traceability throughout the manufacturing process.
  • Assist with fitting, sorting, packaging, labeling, and other production-support activities.
Safety and Equipment Care
  • Complete required pre-use inspections of forklifts and other equipment.
  • Follow equipment load limits, traffic patterns, pedestrian rules, and parking procedures.
  • Report damaged equipment, unsafe conditions, or maintenance needs immediately.
  • Follow all company safety policies and wear required personal protective equipment.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas in accordance with 5S standards.
  • Participate in lean manufacturing and continuous-improvement activities.
  • Perform other duties within the scope of the position as assigned.
Skills and Abilities
  • Ability and willingness to cross-train in material handling, assembly, inventory, and production-support functions.
  • Ability to operate material-handling equipment safely or complete required company training.
  • Ability to read and follow work orders, Bills of Materials, drawings, labels, shipping documents, and written instructions.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to learn ERP, inventory, or scanning systems.
  • Ability to accurately count, measure, verify, and document materials and components.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, time management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently after training and collaborate across departments.
  • Dependable attendance and ability to meet production schedules in a fast-paced environment.
  • Education and/or Training
  • Required
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to perform basic counting, measuring, and documentation.
  • Ability to complete required safety, equipment, and job-specific training.
  • Forklift certification or ability to become trained and authorized within the first 30 days when required for the assignment.
Preferred
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Previous experience in manufacturing, material handling, kitting, assembly, inventory, warehousing, or shipping and receiving.
  • Experience handling steel or oversized materials in a metal-fabrication environment.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems, barcode scanners, Bills of Materials, work orders, and inventory transactions.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing or 5S practices.
Work Environment

This position works primarily on the production floor, in the warehouse, shipping area, or outdoor loading areas. Employees may be exposed to production machinery, welding and paint operations, moving equipment, industrial noise, dust, fumes, changing temperatures, and inclement weather. Required personal protective equipment includes safety glasses, steel-toed footwear, gloves, and hearing protection.

Physical Demands

The position requires extended periods of standing, walking, or sitting while operating equipment. Employees frequently bend, reach, twist, climb, push, pull, and use their hands for material handling and assembly tasks. The ability to lift and maneuver up to 50 pounds independently—and heavier materials with assistance or approved equipment is required. Manual dexterity, coordination, stamina, depth perception, and awareness of surroundings are essential.
