As a Material Handler at Zekelman Industries, Birmingham, you will play a key role in ensuring the efficient picking, packing, and loading of steel tube and pipe materials while adhering to established procedures and quality standards. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, is detail-oriented, and enjoys working with standard warehouse equipment to streamline material handling processes.

Shift: 1st

Pay: $23.55 per hour + production incentive

What You’ll Do

• Champions and enforces safe work practices in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
• Prepares materials, products, and equipment for distribution and shipment, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
• Processes and fulfills orders from customers and internal teams, meeting deadlines and quality expectations.
• Picks, packs, and stages orders, verifying accuracy using scanning tools to ensure proper fulfillment.
• Loads shipments onto flatbed trucks or LTL carriers, following safety protocols and optimizing space usage.
• Receives, inspects, and processes incoming materials, promptly reporting any damages.
• Replenishes warehouse stock and rotates inventory using a reach truck or forklift to maintain stock levels.
• Operates forklifts, order pickers, reach trucks, and walkie rider pallet jacks to move materials efficiently.
• Standardizes and optimizes shipping and receiving procedures for accuracy and efficiency.
• Performs additional duties as assigned, contributing to the overall smooth operation of the warehouse.
• Regular, full-time onsite attendance is required.
  
  

Who You Are

• Minimum of 2 years of warehouse experience, preferably in steel or tubing, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent; technical training preferred.
• Basic math skills for accurate order processing and inventory management.
• Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with cross-functional teams.
• Problem-solving ability to address warehouse challenges in real-time.
• High attention to detail to ensure order accuracy and maintain quality standards.

Compensation & Benefits

Below is the expected base salary range for this position. This is a good-faith estimate, and offers will be determined based on experience, education, skill set, and interview performance.

Base Salary Range: $23.55 per hour + production incentive
