Job summary

Danfoss in Ames, IA is seeking a Material Handler to support shipping, receiving, and distribution of materials for production and release. You will inspect incoming materials, transport to storage or production areas, and prepare items for shipment.

This role emphasizes accuracy, safety, and timely delivery within a 1st shift, Monday–Friday, 6:00 am to 2:00 pm. Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED and forklift experience; proficiency with MS Office and SRP ERP is expected.

The Impact You'll Make

Material Handler performs any of the functions associated with shipping, receiving & distribution of raw materials, work in progress, and finished goods. Specific activities include receiving & inspecting incoming materials and transporting these materials to warehouse storage, stockroom, production area or other designated locations. This position also picks, packs, and transports goods to staging area for shipment. This position may track and unload incoming material and/or check goods received against purchase order, bill of lading, etc. Material Handlers may be certified to operate fork trucks or other material handling power equipment to accommodate storage of products throughout the warehouse, stockroom, or facility.

This is a 1st Shift position, working Monday through Friday, 6:00 am to 2:00 pm.

What You'll Be Doing

• Safely operate a forklift (required); employee safety records will be considered when selecting candidates for Material Handler positions.


• Operate pushcarts to pick parts from shelving locations and deliver materials to the required production areas; pack parcels and move completed packages to the appropriate skid.


• Regularly use Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel) and ERP systems such as SRP to support daily operations.


• Read, interpret, and follow safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and other work-related documentation.


• Apply mathematical skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals, rates, ratios, percentages, and interpretation of bar graphs; use common sense to follow written, verbal, and diagram-based instructions and resolve issues involving multiple variables in standardized situations.


• Demonstrate a strong quality mindset when receiving, evaluating, handling, and delivering materials; continually prioritize customer needs for timely delivery; observe and document work standards, and identify process improvements through lean principles, creative problem-solving, and innovative thinking.
