Job Description

Valmont is seeking a Material Handler for the 1st and 2nd shifts in Midland, Pennsylvania. This role involves preparing products and materials for galvanizing, including hanging angles on spreader bars, staging tubular products, and preparing small parts for galvanizing.

Responsibilities

1. Inspect and ensure the safe use of production fixtures, chains, and hooks.
2. Hand wire small to medium-sized parts for pickling or galvanizing.
3. Secure steel bundles with chains and ropes.
4. Move lightweight steel pieces within the plant and yard.
5. Perform paddling to enhance galvanizing quality, using air guns to blow off zinc needles.
6. Use air or electric tools to prepare or clean steel.
7. Assist in plant cleanup and housekeeping.
8. Follow safety protocols to protect oneself and others.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and follow instructions.
• Ability to read a tape measure accurately.
• Effective communication skills.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods.
• Commitment to safety and maintaining a safe work environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Six months of experience in galvanizing and with hand tools.
• Experience operating a bridge crane.
• Certification in heavy equipment operation, including forklift.
