Job summary

Performance Pet Products in Mitchell, SD is seeking a Warehouse Associate to operate forklift equipment, load/unload trucks, and move materials between production and storage areas. This role supports accurate shipping and requires compliance with safety policies on a day-to-day basis.

The position is full-time on 1st or 2nd shift with hours Monday-Thursday and potential Friday work. Candidates must be 18+, able to pass in-house forklift certifications, and maintain a safe, efficient work

Qualifications

  • Experience in a warehouse or manufacturing facility, desired
  • Experience operating a forklift, preferred; ability to pass in-house certifications, upon hire, and operate equipment safely
  • Ability to communicate effectively; accurately and legibly record information on shipping documents
  • Ability to accurately count and complete basic math operations with a calculator
  • Ability to perform safety sensitive position
  • Ability to work in a facility that processes multiple proteins including beef, pork, chicken, turkey, fish, lamb, rabbit, kangaroo, and egg
  • Must be 18 years of age or older for insurance purposes

Responsibilities

  • Operate a sit-down and/or stand-up forklift to load/unload trucks and put away product in racking
  • Transfer finished and unfinished materials (dry goods, meat, pallets, dunnage, cans/lids) between production floor and storage
  • Review bills-of-lading and purchase orders for shipment accuracy; receive in approved materials
  • Complete daily inspections and paperwork on each piece of equipment used
  • Assist in gathering materials, prepping orders for shipment, rotating raw materials, and inventory/cycle counts
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with internal personnel and external visitors
  • Safely operate yard trucks to move and organize trailers, as needed
  • Collect/drill samples of frozen meat and deliver them to the lab for testing, when needed
  • Complete reports and paperwork in an accurate and timely manner
  • Perform general housekeeping and ensure all areas of the production floor, loading dock, and warehouse are clean and organized
  • Work safely and comply with company and regulatory safety/environmental policies, practices and procedures
  • Maintain regular and predictable on-site attendance
  • Situations may arise that require employees to temporarily or permanently assume responsibility for tasks not specifically outlined in this job description. Employees may be requested to work additional hours and/or accommodate a heavier than normal workload.

Inventory & Shipment Management

Gestión de Inventarios y Envíos
Deberes y Responsabilidades Esenciales
  • Operar un montacargas con asiento o de pie para cargar/descargar camiones y almacenar productos en estanterías
  • Transferir materiales terminados y sin terminar (productos secos, carne, tarimas, estibas, latas/tapas) entre el área de producción y el almacén
  • Revisar los conocimientos de embarque y las órdenes de compra para verificar la precisión de los envíos. Recibir materiales aprobados
  • Realizar inspecciones diarias y gestionar la documentación de cada equipo utilizado
  • Asistir en la recolección de materiales, la preparación de pedidos para envío, la rotación de materias primas y los recuentos de inventario/ciclo
  • Comunicarse de forma eficaz y profesional con el personal interno y los visitantes externos
  • Operar camiones de patio de forma segura para mover y organizar los remolques, según sea necesario
  • Recolectar/perforar muestras de carne congelada y entregarlas al laboratorio para su análisis, cuando sea necesario
  • Completar informes y gestionar la documentación de forma precisa y oportuna
  • Realizar tareas generales de limpieza y garantizar que todas las áreas de la planta de producción, el muelle de carga y el almacén estén limpias y organizadas
  • Trabajar de forma segura y cumplir con las políticas, prácticas y procedimientos de seguridad/ambientales, tanto de la empresa como reglamentarios
  • Mantener una asistencia regular y predecible en las instalaciones
