Under the direction of the Logistics Supervisor and/or Department Supervisor, the Material Handler maintains distribution of materials between the production floor and inventory; loading and unloading; delivering production materials and supplies to the production floor; staging finished products in designated inventory locations; and general housekeeping in accordance with Pregis policies and procedures.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Safely operate a forklift to stage materials, load trucks, unload trucks, and transfer materials within the plant and departments as needed.
- Prioritize safety in all work activities and ensure all safety procedures are strictly followed.
- Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Maintain an organized, FIFO-controlled warehouse following Pregis Best Practices.
- Maintain inventory by identifying, placing materials and supplies in stock, and recording their locations.
- Prepare finished stock for shipment by identifying, pulling, and securing products in the correct locations.
- Communicate professionally and identify opportunities for improving the work environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned or required.
Skills/Qualifications:
- Strong organization, time management, and process improvement skills.
- Experience operating a forklift (1+ years).
- Experience with inventory control (1+ years).
- Knowledge of safety standards in manufacturing/warehouse environments.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment following standardized work instructions.
- Experience with Warehouse Management Software (e.g., SAP) is a plus.
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
Physical and Environmental Conditions:
- Frequent standing, stooping, sitting; occasional lifting, pushing, pulling.
- Exposure to moving equipment, heat (may exceed 90°F), humidity (may exceed 80%), and noise (may exceed 85dB+).
- Use of Personal Protective Equipment required.
Position Details:
- Full-time, 12-hour night shifts.
- Overtime may be required based on business needs.
