Job Summary

The Material Handler is responsible for the safe, accurate, and efficient movement of raw materials, work-in-process inventory, and finished goods throughout the facility. This role supports manufacturing, warehouse, shipping, and receiving operations by ensuring materials are delivered to the appropriate locations in a timely manner to meet production schedules and customer requirements. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, dependable, and detail-oriented, with experience operating forklifts and working in a fast-paced manufacturing or distribution environment. This position plays a vital role in maintaining inventory accuracy, operational efficiency, and compliance with company safety and quality standards.

Job Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum six (6) months of forklift operating experience in a manufacturing, warehouse, or distribution environment.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain company forklift certification.
  • Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Ability to read and interpret work orders, inventory labels, shipping documents, and production records.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to company policies and procedures.

Essential Job Function
  • Safely operate forklifts and other powered industrial trucks to transport, load, unload, stack, and store materials throughout the facility.
  • Load and unload incoming and outgoing shipments accurately and efficiently.
  • Stage raw materials, components, and finished goods to support production and shipping activities.
  • Perform manual material handling tasks, including lifting, carrying, stacking, and moving materials as needed.
  • Utilize barcode scanners, ERP systems, and inventory management software to record material transactions and allocate inventory to work orders.
  • Verify material quantities, product identification, and storage locations to ensure inventory accuracy.
  • Assist with cycle counts, physical inventories, and inventory reconciliation activities.
  • Conduct daily pre-shift inspections of forklifts and material handling equipment and report maintenance or safety concerns.
  • Ensure timely delivery of materials to production areas to support manufacturing schedules.
  • Follow established quality standards and procedures to prevent product damage and inventory discrepancies.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in compliance with company policies and OSHA regulations.
  • Identify opportunities to improve material flow, inventory control, and operational efficiency.
  • Support warehouse, inventory, production, shipping, and receiving functions as assigned.
