Job summary

GE Vernova seeks a Shipping/Receiving Clerk to verify shipments, enter data into ERP, and coordinate with carriers. You will prepare items for shipment, label and package, and support inventory accuracy across warehouses.

Requirements include a High School Diploma or GED, forklift certification, and ERP familiarity; SAP knowledge is a plus. The role involves physical activity and occasional overtime in Findlay Township, PA.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment; inputs data into ERP.
  • Counts, weighs or measures items to verify against records and bills of lading.
  • Determines shipment method and makes carrier arrangements when needed.
  • Operates or assists with forklift and moves shipments to storage or work areas.
  • Packs, labels, crates, and maintains inventory of shipping materials.
  • Participates in inventories and ensures accuracy.
  • Pulls and kits parts for assembly teams as required.

Job description

  • Verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment. Inputs all shipment information into ERP computer system.
  • Compares identifying information and counts, weighs or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders or other records.
  • Determines method of shipment, utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures, routes and rates. Makes carrier arrangements when necessary.
  • Affixes shipping labels on packed cartons or stencils identifying shipping information on cartons, using stenciling equipment.
  • Assembles wooden or cardboard containers or selects preassembled containers.
  • Inserts items into containers, using spacers, fillers and protective padding.
  • Nails covers on wooden crates and binds containers with metal tape, using strapping machine.
  • Posts weights and shipping charges, and affixes postage.
  • Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items/goods, records shortages, and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages.
  • Participates in physical inventories and inventory reconciliation exercises to meet overall inventory accuracy goals
  • Routes items to various internal departments and kanban areas for manufacturing projects.
  • Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications.
  • Maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
  • May operate forklift truck or use hand-truck to move, convey or hoist shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage or work area.
  • Other duties may be assigned by management to meet business needs.
  • Pull and kit parts for the assembly team to assemble projects/orders.

  • Calculate surface, volumes, weights and dimensions of packaged equipment or components.

  • Must be able to make decision with regards to completion of tasks and job methods and follow through with results of outcome.
  • Good verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Must be able to interact and communicate with internal customers. Internal customers may include production, engineers, and management personnel.
  • Ability to prioritize workload and shift work activities in order to meet business needs and department goals, essential.
  • Must be able to independently arrange and organize work efforts on a weekly, monthly and quarterly basis. Must be able to meet tight deadlines. Ability to multi-task on a consistent basis.
  • Ability to make recommendations regarding job methods and departmental procedures.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagrammatic form.
  • Frequently required to sit; stand; walk; use hands and fingers, handle and/or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl in performing assignments.
  • Ability to lift packages/shipments weighing on average between 20 to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to use telephone, computer, monitor, mouse/track ball, and keyboard for limited periods of time.
  • Must be able to attend work on a daily basis in a regular and timely manner.
  • Extended hours or overtime maybe required on occasion.
